We wrote a couple of weeks ago about the US government saying airlines could suspend flights to 5% of their airports. Airlines submitted their proposals — and the DOT announced their approvals just before the holiday weekend.
Delta was granted permission to suspend flights to 11 airports. Simple Flying reports the affected outstations are:
- Aspen, CO (ASE)
- Bangor, ME (BGR)
- Erie, PA (ERI)
- Flint, MI (FNT)
- Fort Smith, AR (FSM)
- Lincoln, NE (LNK)
- New Bern/Morehead/Beaufort, NC (EWN)
- Peoria, IL (PIA)
- Santa Barbara, CA (SBA)
- Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA (AVP)
- Willison, ND (XWA)
According to Skift, objections may be filed until Thursday, May 28.
These suspensions are in addition to other Delta flights cut at nearly a dozen smaller airports in major markets.

Williston is just finishing up the building of their new multi million dollar airport! How sad this is.
It’s a bummer. I’m a North Dakota native and was sad to see XWA on the list. But on the bright side, it still has UA service to DEN.
