Why Delta… Why – O – Why do you have to break things that work for us frequent flyers (and frequent buyers) of Delta tickets? Why do you have to make things that are nearly perfect look like a 5 year old cartoon page? What am I talking about (yes, I have blogged about this before – but it is worse now fyi) ? Look at the above featured image from the Delta.com landing page that my old bit.ly/olddelta link takes you to now. That vs. this:
You can still get to this old sweet page, maybe, depending on who you are and where you are (i.e. what part of the planet) and what OS you use or more. The new link I am now using is this:
bit.ly/dlfly
If the above fails try typing: https://www.delta.com/flight-search/book-a-flight
That, for now, is still working under certain conditions to navigate you to the old, real and functional flight booking page on Delta.com! What else does not work anymore?
All the added code to force Delta.dumb into thinking you are on a mobile device from your desktop / laptop seems to have been disabled by the wiz-bang-subcontractor-Delta-IT-folks now. Grrr. So what does work?
Opera browser still seems to work fine but it is not one of the blessed ones by Delta so you get a yell at you pop-up box.
Believe it or not the horrid and dying Microsoft Internet Explorer works just fine for now if you use the bit.ly/dlfly link.
Firefox also pulls up correctly but I have had mixed results with Google Chrome. Sometimes I had to use Incognito mode to make the real link work. I asked Chris, who for some reason uses a MAC and iPhone and iTablet and he confirmed the old bit.ly/olddelta now also sends you to the new cartoon site but the bit.ly/dlfly goes to the good one – for now anyway.
Bottom line is if Delta keep breaking the real and functional booking landing page and moves 100% to the cartoon page it will drive me more and more to search on itaMatrix for all my purchase tickets (a smart move anyway – often you find things you can not on Delta.com) and then only use Delta.dumb when looking for award tickets.
What do you think of the changes to the Delta booking / landing site? Love them or hate them like me? Are you a fan of the way Delta keeps dumbing down the Delta home page compared to the quick and slick way it used to look in the past? – René

If you try to book a ticket in your business profile, you can no longer search for award tickets.
@Tim – Really? Ouch!
I absolutely despite the new one. It, like most page redesigns, makes it harder to search for and find what you need. Maybe that’s Delta’s intent.

Sorry.
And what happened to the drop down pay with partial miles?
@Rand: Pay with Miles or Miles + Cash?
I hate the new website and have always removed the “2” in the web address to get back to the old preferred booking engine. Last week this started to fail but I was somehow able to manipulate the web address to get to what I wanted. Why DL makes us jump though so many hoops to give it my business makes no sense.
Very confusing
Also now I see that every time I log into Delta.com I am asked to choose between personal or business. It was never an issue before.

I too highly prefer the old site. Much easier to use.
Sad next to a Delta employee the other day and asked what he did??? He said IT OUCH i spent some time asking him why they change the website screens and make it sooo much more difficult to even book flights!! also why if the website is finally working well do they need to change everything again??? He had no answers!! also i told him the App is nuts esp in airports and DL SC lounges…
I too can’t stand the new booking screens. Thanks for the link to the old page.
Your workarounds to get to the old DL booking page now don’t work. They automatically forward to the awful new one. Please help!
@Frankie – The crack Delta sub-contract IT hacks are at it again. Try: https://www.delta.com/flight-search/book-a-flight
The lastest link posted isn’t working on any of the three different browsers I tried today.
