If you live in, near, or can position to Las Vegas and have nothing to do on Christmas and the day after, you might be interested in this AeroMexico business class run to Quito, Ecuador.
The MQD earnings are a little meh but if you’re worried about not making Diamond, it’s a run to at least consider.
The routing is LAS-MTY-MEX-UIO-MEX-LAS. The cost is currently $995.48.
As usual, these are Y-UP fares. There have been, in the past, some issues with getting correct credit with Y-UPs from AeroMexico. All data points suggest this problem has been fixed — but be sure to save all your boarding passes and follow these steps to make sure you get correct credit!
Leave Vegas at 1:45 PM on December 25, and arrive back in Sin City just before 10:00 PM on the 26th.
There’s a Sala VIP lounge in Quito where you can hang out; I believe AeroMexico also has a lounge business class passengers (like you!) can access. In Mexico City, cardholders of the Platinum Card from American Express (learn more and compare) and Business Platinum Card® from American Express OPEN (learn more and compare) can access the MEX Centurion Lounge.
The trip is conservatively estimated to travel 6,980 miles. So because of how Delta awards partner travel when you credit it to your SkyMiles account, this trip should earn you:
- $2792 MQD
- 10,470 MQM (@ 9.5 CPM)
- 13,960 base SkyMiles (plus medallion bonus: Diamond + 120%; Platinum + 80%; Gold + 60%; Silver + 40%)
Here’s a Google Flights link to get you started. Even though it says “Price Unavailable,” click-through until you get to the AeroMexico website. Select the “Comfort” fares — those should Y-UP to I class.
If the fare is more expensive than the $995.48, that probably means it’s sold out.
This run falls just short of our usual 3X MQD target. You might be better off consulting the Juicy Miles team and paying their fee — they’ll likely find something you like even better!
