While many celebrated the Fourth of July yesterday at parties, ballgames, lakes, or maybe watching some YouTube fireworks, a group of lucky Delta Air Lines passengers enjoyed a unique celebration of their own.
Delta News Hub details flight 1776 — which annually celebrates the Fourth of July during flights to destinations such as Washington, D.C. or Philadelphia. Delta 1776 flew from Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) to Reagan Washington National (DCA) this year on an Airbus 320.
Passengers were treated to American flag-themed cookies, party favors, and an inflight “fireworks show” (lit by battery-powered sparklers!).
Even though our customers on Delta flight 1776 were missing fireworks on the ground yesterday, it didn’t mean they had to miss out on the light show.

The airline currently operates flight 1776 on a daily basis, year-round. Only the Fourth of July flights get the special treatment.
Delta excels at many things — and throwing theme parties centered around flights or Sky Club openings is one of them! René experienced a great pre-flight event in Detroit before Delta’s inaugural A350 flight. I enjoyed some music, fun swag, and complimentary top-shelf cocktails at the Delta Austin Sky Club opening in May.
I wonder to which Revolutionary War airport a flight 1775 would operate? 😉 –Chris
