Phew! What a start to 2018. I myself have flown dozens of segments already this year and I have to tell you my upgrade percentage is stunning (more on that later). I am also collecting a wealth of data points I look forward to sharing and have a number of solid “rookie” posts even the Delta “pros” will want to read. But that is for February and March posts. Today, let’s peek at what you maybe missed to start the year:
➥ CONFIRMED: $50 Delta e-Gift cards sweet spot for Amex Platinum travel credits 2018!
➥ EXCITING NEWS – The DFW Dallas American Express Centurion is moving and expanding!
➥ Delta One 777 review – It’s time for an upgrade Delta!
➥ Ground Link pre-order service – What Uber pre-order should be!
➥ No notice Delta SkyMiles Level 1 award price jump, Delta Rollover MQMs, No more Sky Club news papers, Skyteam MegaDo & more Delta news!
➥ Austin Texas (AUS) gets the next mega Delta Sky Club with Sky Deck! Are you excited?
➥ Medallions – Are you using Delta Same Day Change for more upgrades?
➥ YouTube Changes, AA back to SBN, ATL Weather Recovery, Empty Delta 1st Class Seats & More!
➥ Hyatt asks for quiet from 10PM-8AM! Does anyone listen? What do you wish your fellow guests would NOT do at hotels?
➥ Delta One 747 Experience Detroit to Japan Narita – My final upper deck business class ride!
➥ Delta again “Loves-ish” AA, MEGA Medallion Global and Regional cert changes, Select Choice Benefits now or lose them!
➥ A disturbing chat with a 4 year, 7000+ ride Uber driver. What is the future of the rideshare service?
My flying is slowing down the next few weeks. Believe it or not I will be spending some time on AA jets next month in my continuing effort to burn up my nearly worthless AA points. Folks, the FF game keeps changing and I find myself moving more and more toward cash back or points I can use like cash. When the airlines kill their currency it is time to consider other choices. I am, are you? – René

Rene, I just came across an interesting Delta.com anomaly. When searching a seat from SEA-JFK as part of a multi-city booking, one flight offering the new DeltaOne seats displays Economy and EC seats, but for First Class it says “not available.” DeltaOne does not even appear in the booking grid. A call to the Diamond line suggested I search the flight as a one-way and then D-1 does appear. But who would have thought? The Diamond agent also assured me that D-1 does qualify for Diamond upgrades with the normal upgrade window and process.
Rene,
I too am on AA several times in Feb due to DL being several hundred dollars more per route, perhaps since I am in a hub city. Hoping AA points will be used for something other than a magazine subscription!
