The above is the view from most of my cruise cabins at night. OK yes I am kidding a bit but at my age one thing is certain – I will have to get up once during the night and the step up into the bathroom in my cabin is likely a bit higher than my sleepy head tells me it is.
During my latest review of my Carnival Aft cabin the lavatory had an outlet that I could have plugged in my standard soft travel night light but sadly the power was only on when the light switch was on and that defeated the whole purpose of the soft light.
The same Carnival cabin had a neat idea, in theory anyway, with a motion sensor in the side table next to my bed that illuminated the bathroom door but it was so bright it just about woke me up when getting up.
Clearly I need a better solution and low and behold I think I have found just what I need and it will be a stock item I cruise with from this point on. Take a look:
This USB-C chargeable motion light attaches to anything metal and even inside a cruise ship lav there are some parts that are metal (unlike the cabin that has almost all the walls metal a lot of the inside walls of a lav are plastic).
The light is soft and warm and as soon as I open the bathroom door the light should activate and stay on until I step out.
Since it also comes with a tiny metal “dot” for lack of a better word I am also using this when I am not on a cruise ship for our home bathroom storage closet and I am most impressed. We have used it for about a week and it shows no signs of needing a charge yet!
I know I am picky about what I “need” on a cruise like a massive 3″ foam mattress topper, my power splitter with USB ports as well as our laundry pop-up hampers not to mention shower mirror and more but this new addition is something I have been looking for for a very long time! – René
