There is a hilarious thread on FlyerTalk in the Delta sub-forum. There are rants about all sorts of tiny little annoyances that folks gripe about when either flying Delta or in some way interacting with Delta. Some of them are epic and beyond “eye-roll” worthy complaints. But this weekend I wanted to toss in my latest picks.
Notice the photo of at the top of the post? I mean how can they stand to have one of the most prominent light bulbs in the Delta Sky Club out when all the others are clearly laughing at it’s dullness (paging Adrian Monk). I mean I think Delta will “thank me later” for pointing this one out. 😉
But wait – there’s more!
You see there is an even more egregious pathetic thing I can complain about and it may not even rise to the level of rant worthy so you be the judge:
One of the best things on any breakfast bar is fresh fruit and the Delta Sky Club is no exception, except, for one tiny issue. I hate grapefruit. I mean I really HATE it. It is bitter and just nasty. And here is the thing – when you mix it up with other fruit it flavors ALL the other fruit as grapefruit.
Now I am sure this is fine for you folks who like bitter, nasty grapefruit, but for the rest of us who do not this is not a pleasant and refreshing breakfast choice. Agree?
Just to balance out this most pathetic thing to gripe about I will add a YUUUGE praise for Delta. My wife, who was with me on the flights last week, told me this was one of the first times ever she had had cinnamon toast without raisins and she is not a fan of raisins. Nice right? But if Delta can leave nasty raisins out of the cinnamon bread why can they not leave the grapefruit out of my fruit mix I ask you? – Rene
PS – Feel free to gripe about anything real or pathetic you don’t like about Delta right now – this could be a fun comment section to review! 🙂

I hate it when the announcement is made after climb by the pilot and they don’t do the synchronized “it’s smooth so I’m gong to turn off (bing!) the seatbelt sign.” Pure laziness not to do the synchronized sign and mention of said sign!
Rene, I’m with you on the grapefruit. Another reason – for any of us statin takers for cholesterol, grapefruit is a no-no. It would seem to me that many of Delta’s best customers, Diamonds, take a statin perhaps due to age and lower physical activity. Delta should remember that sick passengers don’t buy tickets.
All the SkyClub food is cream and mayonnaise based.
Sorry René, I’m having way too much fun. I’m really wracking my brain but I’ve got nothing.
Well actually there is something but it’s not Delta’s fault:
Parents blasting videos to the toddlers in their laps to keep them entertained. Seriously? My Bose noise-cancelling ear buds can’t even drown out the sound.
How did our parents ever manage to raise us without smart phones, tablets, or DVD players for entertainment.
Putting co-workers into first class ahead of 1st on the upgrade list. Marketing Aeromexico flights that require bus ride and flight of stairs to board. INACCESSIBLE!!
Snacks. When the FA says ‘our snack this afternoon is pretzels’ with no option for Biscoffs. Occasionally a great FA will ‘find’ a pack of cookies upon a discreet request. Biscoffs should always be available!
Grapefruit can be sweet!!bt it is a problem for Statin takers and other meds!!!
Snacks get better then worse…
I love Goldbergs chicken salad (esp the regular one) some of the monthly ones are too mayooo and not as good..
I’m not sure I appreciate booking my W-up to Comfort+ and boarding plane only to sit in an economy comfort seat. Don’t appreciate the brand confusion one bit. “Am I on the right flight?”
Fine, more grapefruit for me. As a Floridian I have no citrus dislikes except for pomelo. Go ahead, google it. Think you like citrus? Find one to try but you have been warned.
Also grapes=good. Raisins=evil.
Enjoy the citrus basket we are sending, we will make sure it’s full of grapefruit.
Three days later, and this article still makes me laugh. Kudos to the ones that stumbled across the thread
