South Bend has just recently picked up LYFT. Now they have had UBER for quite a while but having both major ride share services is sweet. But the one thing they don’t yet have is UBEReats – that is, the ability to order meals from local restaurants delivered to your door with the touch of an app.

Use my code get $15 first order

I have been with UBER for a while (if you have not get $20 off your first ride HERE) but UBEReats is a totally separate app from the ride sharing app and you can get the app for iOS and Android HERE.

Current (FEB17) UBEReats locations

As you can see the locations are expanding but still limited. Unless you are in or manually choose an area where they operate the app will be limited in function. Like in the normal UBER app it is smart to make sure the address is correct and where you really are.

Perfect time to try this out!

Having never tried UBEReats, and since it was raining cats & dogs (and chickens and elephants and more) outside with the storm of the century in the LAX area, I decided to give it a try plus with the $15 off discount why not.

order a pizza from UBEReats app RenesPoints travel blog

I was in the mood for Pizza and wings. Now sure I could have just called a pizza place as most will deliver, but the point of the app is getting access to places that don’t so know this is for more than just pizza.

The process is quite simple. Photos are presented for whatever items you want and the options for sides (say in the case of a Chinese order) as well as in my case a few wings with the pizza as well as other toppings and pizza size. Simple and straight forward. Nice.

my recipt for my first UBEReats test RenesPoints blog
I got 2x MR points – Nice!

In addition to updates via the app I could track the progress of my order and even where the driver was as you can see from the screen shot above (next to the rain shot). Also very nice as with other pizza deliveries you just never know how much longer it is going to take.

The driver upon arriving at the hotel called and asked if we wanted him to run it up to our room or meet him in the lobby. I guess if I were a single female I could see this as a courtesy, but we had him run it up. Tips are optional but I always tip and he seemed appreciative and even apologized for the few rain drops on the pizza box!

There is also a place in the app when ordering to request special items. Since I was in a hotel room I requested paper plates if they had them but either that was ignored or they did not have any. Not a deal breaker just sharing.

Overall I like the UBEReats app and love the convenience of so many choices at my fingertips. I like not having to call to order and I really like being able to track where my order is along the way. Bottom line is I will be using the app again when I don’t feel like going out or eating in a hotel restaurant (or one near by to me). Plus, since it is linked to my normal UBER account, I got 2x AMEX Membership Rewards points for paying with my non-Delta AMEX Platinum card.

Have you tested UBEReats? Did you have a good experience? – René

Hey Rene – if you weren’t aware, anything purchased on UberEats is processed like a normal Uber ride – i.e. if you have your SPG account and Uber linked, you earn Starpoints as well.

    Happy delivery ordering!

I live in California and I’m addicted to uber eats. But I frequent south bend the only app I found was grub hub. Very limited choices. But is quite easy to use. When you get home give it a try.
