I have blogged about how CLEAR + TSA PreCheck is a life alerting combo. I have never felt so “rushed”, that is, in a good way, through security. And thanks to being a Delta Diamond Medallion, I get membership free of charge and can add those in my household for a discounted rate.
Well now, for a limited time, CLEAR is sending out emails with a PVT one time code (edit: sorry folks was misled by CLEAR Twitter folks, see link below) to add a +1 for FREE for one year. Outstanding news if you have not added your +1 yet. But that brings up some questions that I asked CLEAR about this promo:
Q) What if you paid already to add a +1 can you get the fee back?
A) No. This is only for those who have yet to add a +1
Q) Can you get a 1 year extension if you paid already to add a +1?
A) No. See answer above.
Q) What if you have not yet added a +1 but did not get a code via e-mail?

Now I know, if already paid, you are feeling a bit left out for acting fast to upgrade your +1. I agree but don’t gripe to me as I am just sharing the deal (personally I think it stinks they are not at least offering a 1 year extension if you paid already).
Anyway, if you are a Diamond and don’t have CLEAR yet by all means GET IT. Because now, once you do, you can add your +1 for a year free as well! – René

@TexasYankie – Maybe they lied about the rest of the Q&A like the code?
If I am merely a Delta Sky Miles person with no status (silver, etc.), can I do the $99/year subscription and add my wife for free (versus the typical $50)?
@John – It should work fine but CLEAR is not being very CLEAR on this promo. Also note the EXP date of the 31st.
Detroit update – Hurray! CLEAR lanes opened today to DTW. Plenty of staff to sign up and assist fliers. There is a CLEAR lane at both the general check-in area and one at the TSA PreCheck area.
