Welcome to Delta check-in?

It is sorta strange walking into the PHL Philadelphia Terminal D and seeing all the check-in stations empty with LED signs telling you to go to Terminal E.

Delta partner-ish Alaska let’s you check-in at Terminal D at least. Also sorry for the delay in posting this review as I had intended to include this as part of my “best cheese steak” in Philadelphia review. Better late than never I guess.

You can get in with a number of AMEX cards or, if you are a Skyteam elite plus status and are on a coach or anyone on a business class international departing (or connecting) ticket, you can also get in free.

Once you clear security, turn right and you should see the club entrance somewhat tucked out of the way.

The club is rather tiny and even more divided into additional tiny areas. I found no matter where you sit folks will walk around or past you trying to find a seat or while getting snacks and such.

After check-in in the central part of the club is a self service area like the DTW clubs. It has a strange feel and some guests think you have to wait for Sky Club folks to help you with drinks etc.

You have standard Sky Club light snacks and during this visit a somewhat strange veggie choice.

As mentioned drinks are all complimentary including a craft beer choice. You have no “Luxury Bar” here so what you see is what you get.

There is also one seating alcove next to the food area just behind check-in. While all the chairs are dated I would go for this area if you can.

There is a tiny hall, with seating, that leads to another tiny room-ish area where we found some seats. Again, frustrating to have folks back and forth the entire time but at least there is, like in most Sky Clubs, ample power everywhere.

There is one last area just left of the snack area that has some seating, a few cubicles for laptop work and a standard item in most clubs, that is, an internet connected printer for your needs but it does take up one of the cubicles.

Also, due to reduced space I would imagine, soup and other snacks can be found in the work area. I did not test the pretzel bites but they looked good and were something you don’t see in other clubs.

Overall it is nice to see any airport include a Sky Club vs no club but this one is a bit dated and needs a refresh. It also needs smarter seating and layout choices. Have you visited the PHL Sky Club? What do you think of the club or the strange empty D check-in desk. – René

Delta was on B concourse, then took over NWA’s ops on E concourse at the merger, then moved to D gates but no room for check-in on D. Until now, that is. I haven’t been able to get anyone to tell me the official move date. Also, the old Delta club on B was the nicest, followed by the old NWA club near E1. There was a club on E outside security for a while that was little more than a closet.

I was just booking my tickets to germany & I’ve found that there appears to be a glitch or something in the system, but currently you can fly to Frankfurt, Germany for $1,900 R/T from the US (I fly from SDF or EVV which is where I priced them out) in Delta One. The stay ranges from a month to just a few days. Certain days are priced at usual levels, but most are in the $1,800-$2,000 range.
