Let me start off by saying I am and have been a Sprint cell user forever I think. Well, at least 20+ years. Now I get that talking about who is the “best” cell service is like talking about who makes the best pickup truck in the USA. Yeah, folks get passionate about it. But for me Sprint has worked well where I travel “most” of the time. Not just that, now with Connectify I can share my 4G via my laptop when needed at impressive speeds.
But yesterday I got notice that Sprint is having a promotion where 25,000 points was up for grabs for switching. Interesting but not for me as I am already a customer. Oh but wait, I can get 5k per year by just entering in my AAvantage number. Interesting.
I entered my information and shortly got an email confirming my enrollment in the program. The was one warning for those in Sprint Discount Program but I doubt many of you are enrolled in that but do take notice before you simply type in your number.
I love this for so many reasons. First off, other than liking Sprint, I am getting 5x Chase Ultimate Rewards® points for paying my cell bill with my Ink business card. But now, on top of that, I am also getting 5,000 AA points free as well. And, as someone who does not fly AA all that often, I now have a simple reoccurring set of points dumping in to my AA account to reset my expiration “clock” for my points again and again and again (FYI unlike SkyMiles that never expire, AA points do unless you have activity in the account). To me this is almost as useful as the bonus points!
Anyway, if you are looking to change your cell provider you can pick up a nice chunk of AA points and if you are already a Sprint user why not get some bonus AA points each year! – René
UPDATE: My points have started to post as you can see below!
