It was time for me to renew my passport, and I recently received the new one in the mail. I opted for the one with additional pages at no extra charge when renewing. Last time I ended up with only two empty slots for travel. I was not going to make that same mistake again.
This brings up some great reminders for all of us who have different travel documents updated. When you get your new passport it will have a new number and lots of other important dates updated inside. If you happen to have Global Entry and TSA PreCheck as my fellow BoardingArea blogger Michael W Travels reminded us, it is important for you to login to Global Entry and update all your information there.
While we’re talking Global Entry also keep in mind that you can renew up to 12 months before your expiration date. This can be especially handy depending on when and if you plan to cancel a credit card like the non-Delta Platinum American Express card that offers a rebate for your $100 global entry fee when you pay with the card.
Also important is making sure all of this updated information is current on your my Delta. This can really save you a lot of time and effort when buying tickets and checking in for flights. It’s a very simple thing when you know where to go to update all this pertinent information in your my Delta profile on delta.com.
For me, having a smoother experience checking-in, avoiding lines at TSA and getting to whatever lounge I am going to faster is well worth a few clicks and updates! – René

YOU CAN’T ADD PAGES TO YOUR PASSPORT NEXT YEAR
The US State Department announced that it will no longer add pages to passports beginning January 1, 2016. If your passport does not have any blank visa pages after this date, you will need to apply for a passport renewal.
