This, like the live SEA-LIR run, is a great First Class Mileage Run to a great destination; Aruba! It is one of my favorite places to fly! It is as far as Delta goes into the Caribbean market so you are maximizing your miles for your dollars.
Right now, on my sample booking shown above there are ZERO seats sold in four of the six segments! If you are one the first to book you get your choice of First Class seats.
Now, to be honest, you have to endure one segment of a MD-90 aircraft in this booking example; although you can choose other flights and get better airplanes. There are limited Dates so I would Book Now!
So, there are only three dates that I have found for a one-night layover in Aruba. You have a lengthy layover at the Salt Lake City airport on your outbound flight and a either a long layover or an overnight at New York’s JFK airport on the return.
I am seeing dates and different layover stays if you want to use Delta.com’s simple roundtrip flight search tool. This is a no-brainer easy way to get a great start on your 2016 MQM’s quest and you can do it over a weekend, if that’s your preference. You can also do a mid-day run.
The first booking example shown has a much better schedule and no long layover at SLC on the outbound, but still you face that overnight at JFK on the return. Still, you get three nights to enjoy Aruba, the food, the music, the sunshine and beaches.
Here are the numbers:
Cost: $880 in 1st class
12,170 MQM’s at 7.2CPM
Bookable on Delta.com
In looking at the best connections, you need to put SLC in your outbound connection and JFK both ways. Right now the 3 night layover shows no seats sold in the first class cabin on five of the six segments! Save your Regional and Global Upgrade Certificates and fly in style; relax and enjoy your first class experience…then soak up the sunshine and beach life for a couple of days before your return. – John, @LaptopTravel
