The past few days I have just about lived on Delta jets and in Centurion lounges. All my upgrades cleared even one that I did a SDC or same day change and still cleared at the gate (it is good to be Diamond). Along the way I had a chance to tinker with Delta Studio again and this is good since in a little over a month it will be a “FREE” feature of the new C+ section of the plane. Things are better than back in August I must say.
Here is what they have fixed. If you happen to have a name that is a nonstandard name, like me who has a space in my name (de Lambert), you can get it to work as long as you avoid the space and my guess is other different types of spellings i.e. just use standard characters. Maybe others with unique names can comment on their experience as well.
They still have an issue depending on when you clear. Sometimes when you gate clear you will not have an issue, while other times you will have to chat with GoGo to get a code and you are good to go.
There are still browser issues. You cannot, for example, use Sapphire for Windows but Firefox does work fine.
Do keep in mind, unlike “renting” a movie, you only get to watch it on THAT flight if you are in 1st. The nice thing about getting a code is you can watch it later in your “My Library”.
I do have some other concerns moving forward. They are NOT streaming the videos from the ground so it should not slow down others’ GoGo internet. However, if you have an entire section of C+ seats and 1st class folks watching videos that will have an impact as the wifi onboard bandwidth is limited. For example, I had a few times where a movie stopped and had to buffer. It will be interesting to see how it goes after 1MARCH15.
So you tell me, how has your Delta Studio experience been in 2015? – René

Absolutely LOVE DL Studio. Especially the music station choices. Just had six flight in two weeks and even the RJ’s I was on had it available. DL just “Keeps Climbing.”
Good experience the first time I used it. Update my phone and it stopped working. I have now updated the app and am hoping my next flight it will be better. As far and bandwith goes. I had heard that they stream it from a local server not from wifi so it should not distrupt.
One question. Do the gogo people provide support when there is a problem? I was wondering who to contact.
Studio is annoying where it doesn’t work cool where it does. No go on chrome for laptop is annoying. No Android phone or phablet support is lame. Studio on planes without outlet is a recipe for disappointment in the climax of the second film. Too many silly limitations. Even Sat next to an iPad mini that got denied as well. With that limited a selection of devices might as well go back to installing IFE screens.
@Trevor there are no wires on most planes for connection so everything coming to you device is over WiFi even if only across the network inside the plane.
Delta Studio worked fine on my iPhone with Safari from the get-go. However, I often have to go to the GoGo help menu to access the movie offerings. The DVD cover icons are really small on an iPhone and sometime I can’t tell what the movie is. Once I had too many tabs open in Safari and the movie would not play until I closed all the tabs from prior flights. The movies do not change often enough. If I SDC flights, my name and seat # do not migrate to the new flight and I lose access even if I stay upgraded in first class. Using the iPhone is nice on flights where meals are served and tray space is at a premium.
On a recent ATL originated flight to the Carribean I expected to get access to the Delta studio for the section over the continental US…but no , nothing, nada, did not work…not sure if it should have be live?
So my 2015 Delta Studio experience rates a zero!
The IFE were the tiny video screens every 5th row…of course the one I could see flickered and never held the picture…though we were offered free ear buds!
Rene, do you have a tab/link to access how to use the delta studio? I’m in first dtw-las this weekend and want to be able to access the entertainment.
