A clear sunny day to fly, an amazing approach looking down at the beautiful German countryside and then deplaning and seeing a nice smiling face and a large Mercedes Benz to take you to the terminal. Yeah, that is a nice way to start your day!

Quite a different experience than the bus ride out to the jet from Gothenburg and we had some fun banter with the driver about Germany’s win at the world cup (it had just been the night before).

The ride was short but nice and we were taken as close to the 1st class lounge as possible and escorted to the door and handed off to the desk agent.

Then we were almost shown the door and directed to the business class lounge. Apparently the SAS printed boarding pass did not pull up correctly, but once the rep found us in the Lufthansa system he apologized and welcomed us to the club.

The lounge is nice sized and was never really crowed during our visit. The bar is well stocked and attendants were regularly around to see if we needed anything at all.

The breakfast choices were ample and looked great but I was saving room for lunch on the flight home and opted only for a cup of tea.

The breakfast area is nicely separated from the rest of the lounge. In addition to the buffet there were menu choices.

This lounge is much smaller than the huge Frankfurt 1st class terminal, but did include several private cubicles for work and they were occupied constantly – apparently a popular feature.

As was the cigar lounge area (not my kind of thing).

I was pleased to see they included on the extensive list of adult beverages our Delta favorite Woodford Reserve. Classy choice Lufthansa. But maybe not for breakfast.

wifi speed MUC Lufthansa 1st class lounge

Other than the attendant checking us in being a bit snooty until he found out we had the right to be there, the only other minor complaint was the wifi speed or I should say the lack of wifi speed as you can see above. It was sluggish at best.

One nice thing was they did have the option to call for a massage therapist to come to the lounge and setup in one of the spacious shower rooms. The prices were even reasonable at 30 Euro for ½ an hour chair massage. Perfect before a long flight, but it would be nice if it were included as part of your lounge visit. It is 1st class after all.

I really enjoyed the visit to this lounge and our gate was right outside the door so no need for a car ride to the plane. Next up our A330 1st class ride that had only 4 of the 8 seats occupied so I expected service to be great. – René

Wow, sounds like foreshadowing to me. 🙂
