On my last trip through Detroit I had some extra time and wanted to try out a new dinner spot. There really are a bunch of choices at DTW to grab a bite. I was in a Mexican mood and there are a few choices for that now as well.
One of them is Jose Cuervo Tequileria conveniently located at one end of the A gates where the train stops.
And I mean who does not like Jose Cuervo right? So let’s see what is on the menu.
Not an amazing amount of choices but some good ones. Lisa & I split a set of taco’s and the nachos.
Both were good but not out of this world. Service was quick and good as well. I would, for the money, order the nachos over the tacos if I decide to go back.
Overall on a 1-10 I would give Jose Cuervo’s a 6. One of the main reasons for the low mark was that a single beer was $8.00 and they did not even have Dos Equis on tap even though it was on the menu (they did have lots of expensive SkunkyBeer – sigh)!
What place do you like best in DTW for a sit-down meal? – René

Slapshotz is my default Detroit stop because they actually have a lot of local craft beer on tap. The food is pretty average airport stuff. #NoSkunk
Sora Japanese Cuisine & Sushi Bar has excellent sushi!
Rene, off topic but, I am trying to decide on my Diamond choices. Do the global/and or Regional certs have a restriction like a awards that are available on each flight? I scanned the T&C and it didn’t seem to find any. I knew you wold have a better handle on it and I knew you had used them already. If you follow me on twitter I could direct message you @senseiCRW
I don’t always drink tequila, but when I do I prefer Jose Cuervo. Stay thirsty, my friends.
Try the crab cakes next time. Surprisingly good.
If I’m stuck in C I like the Irish place to grab a Guiness and always enjoy Chili’s for it’s centralized location.
René,
I have eaten at that place in CLT. at DTW you can eat or use the gym at the attached hotel (a westing maybe) it has its own security entrance into A. there is a good Sushi place, but it is a little pricy. Also there is a dinerish type place that I had breakfast two weeks ago. I had all you can eat pancakes for $5.99 plus the $3.00 upcharge for two eggs anyway I wanted and a coffee and juice. I think the whole check was like $12.00 plus tip. decent food, very reasonable prices.
There are also a bunch of hot dog places on A and an einsteins on C

For a quick bite, I am always tempted by the coney’s at National Coney Island. Not the most healthy, but I don’t have a good coney place at home.
There’s lots of excitement restaurant-wise on the horizon for the DTW McNamara Terminal within the next 12-18 months.
P.F. Chang’s, Chick-fil-A, LongHorn Steakhouse, Bruegger’s Bagels, Potbelly Sandwich Works, Pinkberry and Espressamente Illy.
And new local restaurants include Andiamo, Bigalora Wood Fired Cucina, Plum Market, Zingerman’s Deli, Corridor Sausage Co., Grobbel’s Gourmet Deli, Papa Joe’s Gourmet Market, Mezza Mediterranean Grille and Palazzolo’s Artisan Gelato and Sorbetto.
do NOT eat at
Mediterranean Grill – Middle Eastern Cuisine
I ordered a gyro there.
It’s a fajita in a gyro wrap (mexican seasoning, peppers, and sour cream).
and it was gross.
I did take out at the new PF Changs at ATL last month and it was quite good for eating on the flight home to FLL. the problem is that most connections are so short now, there is no time to eat.
