I will be out and about this week so I will have to work around some of my plans for Small Biz Saturday. Just in case you don’t know about it, you can get $10 credit on your AMEX statement for spending at least $10 at a TON of different places this Saturday ONLY. UBER is one of them but there are a bunch more. Just be sure to REGISTER ALL your AMEX cards, including all your Delta ones, HERE on the website before you shop.
Last year it was $25 and I had 3 AMEX cards at the time and got 3 – $25 gift cards from a qualifying restaurant and used them over the next few months. This year, it is only $10 but there are a few places I can get gift cards on my four cards (two Delta and two SPG) and spend them when I have time.
Then there is Friday. It seems that with another HT to our own Frequent Miler that OfficeMax is going to have $200 Visa gift card for $20 off with limit one per person (maybe). As I drive from point A-B I will be visiting several OMs and you better believe I will be paying for them with my card that pays 5x at office supply stores (since I need to meet some spend on my new card)!
So tell me, what are your plans for deals and points this weekend? Are you looking for deals or deals on points for travel? 😉 – René

My Small Business Saturday plan – PAWS Chicago a no kill animal shelter is a Amex Small Business and I’m taking my 11 Amex cards and making 11 $10.00 donations. Doing something great for dogs/cats that don’t have it so good is always better than a few gift cards to restaurants. I’m going to call Amex today and see if I can donate through the PAWS Chicago website – if so, I encourage all of you to at least use one of your $10.00 credits towards making a future pet happier this holiday season.

@Adam – I am a cat fan so good call plus you get the tax deduction plus you get the points. Looks smart to me! (but then again I will take the food and use my US BANK FlexPerks as it give you 3x points for charity donations ie 6% back and that is a better deal to me)!
I’d love to know which small businesses are selling gift cards in your hometown. I’m using mine (10 cards between my husband and myself) to buy a piece of Judaica, which is often pricey.
Last year used a total of 10 Amex cards (between my and my husband) for $25 x 10 gift cards at my local organic food market and cafe. Bought $250 worth of organic pistachio nuts over the next few months. Might do it again this year with a total of 17 cards between the two of us.
@Adam, beware that Amex specifically states in the T&C that online transactions do NOT qualify for the SBS bonus.
@Denis – correct. Some may due to the way it codes like UBER but I would not risk other so your warning is MUCH appreciated! Txs
