I love Priority Club PointBreaks nights. I love Crowne Plaza hotels. Put them together and you get a great stay. On the heels of a great day in Chicago you can read about HERE, we went to the Crowne Plaza Northbrook to overnight. This hotel, while older, does a bunch right. An older hotel must be clean and fresh. This hotel does this. Take a look at the entry
There is a well stocked gift shop right inside the front door.
And while I did not try it, there is a nice restaurant and breakfast buffet.
And the bar is right off the main lobby and has an attached game room. My one big gripe here was that as a PC Platinum I was given a few free happy hour house drink coupons which was nice. The coupons were good from 5-7. I checked in at 7:30 so that was a bit of a sorry, next time enjoy a drink on us! Really?
There is a small office center, but the nice parts are the computers are newer running Win7 and more than just one printer.
The pool is clean and nice and there is an outside bar area as well.
Now to our room. We were extended, as a Priority Club Platinum member, an upgrade to a suite. It was nice and clean. The bathroom was small but also very clean. The A/C in the room worked well and the temp in the room was nice when we came in. Overall a very nice room.
The hotel is not near ORD or MDW so you are looking at $30-50 for a cab ride to either airport. This was my second visit to this location and I was as happy this trip as I was last time. If you are in the area, this should be one location for you to strongly consider.
If you have a round coming up, I have at the bottom of my “Best Points Cards” tab a link, that is NOT MINE, for the 80,000 points PC card. This could get you 16 free nights on the PointBreaks list that should be out sometime soon as the current list expires on October 15th.- René

Thanks for the review. I booked this hotel as soon as the PointsBreak list came out a while ago for the Chicago DO next month. I’m driving in from Detroit and this hotel is only a 10 minute ride from the Holiday Inn in Elk Grove Village (host hotel for the DO).
Thanks for the review. This was a good pointsbreak value but they could do so much more with this place, beginning with that bar. The “free drink” is only good certain hours of the week and not on weekends, and even they you only get a MGD draft for the coupon. It tastes like garbage. A normal beer will cost you 6 bucks. How about (for starters) having a real happy hour and normal prices?
@Jack – yep, as I posted about, this left a bad taste in my mouth (not from the drink since I did NOT get one), but the limited time to use. I was going to get a house red but again did not. The bar is also small and loud. Other than that, a nice place.
Traveling is one thing I like to do. So needless to say I enjoy to read about it if I am unable to travel lol. I am hoping to spend my own retirement years only travelling Retiring ahead of time is yet another dream come true so what does that show you hehe.
Wonderful article again and thank you posting :
Many of the IHG hotels in the Chicagoland area I’ve stayed at offer the free drink coupons but will sometimes give you a choice of 1,000 points instead if you ask.
@DaninSTL – sweet tip. Will try next time. Txs – Rene
