Capital One — once an afterthought in the travel rewards credit card and known simply for its commercials starring the (lovely and kind) Jennifer Garner — continues its upstart ways. It just introduced another rewards card that should be easy for many cardholders to break even on.
The Capital One Venture Business is new on the scene. (And it offers discounts on Capital One Lounge access.) Let’s take a quick look at the card—and its huge early-spend offer!
Capital One Venture Business
The Cap One Venture Business (not to be confused with the Capital One Venture X Business) is a great set-it-and-forget-it card for small business owners. And before you start going, But I don’t own a small business!, you might want to double-check that. My wife sells items on OfferUp and eBay. She is a small business owner. One of my brothers-in-law is a rideshare and food delivery driver; that’s his small business.
They’ve raked in hundreds of thousands of points from small business credit cards.
The card’s rewards earnings are pretty simple:
- 5X miles on hotels, vacation rentals, and rental cars booked through Capital One Business Travel.
- 2X miles on all other eligible purchases
There are no caps on how many miles you can earn. Miles can be redeemed through Capital One Travel, used to cover travel purchases made on the card, or transferred to 15+ airline and hotel partners.
The card’s annual fee is $95 but that can easily be offset.

Earn Back the Annual Fee and a Little More
You can come out at least $5 ahead if you use only the card’s statement credits. (Much like the Capital One Venture X and Capital One Venture X Business)
First, the card offers a $50 annual travel credit. You can earn an annual $50 travel credit for bookings through Capital One Business Travel. Given that this blog bears a travel theme, that shouldn’t be too difficult. 🙂 I recommend using this for flights because you can earn your elite status benefits and frequent flyer miles for bookings made through OTAs.
Next, there’s $50 annual statement credit for purchases at qualifying advertising or software merchants. In my experience, purchases for “extra lives” or “tokens” on games through Facebook or Apple generally work.
Software-wise, most of us subscribe to at least one (or ten) programs.
Like most other travel cards, it offers up to $120 back every four years for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fees charged to the card. Remember, you can “gift” that benefit to other people.
So, there’s an easy $100 total in statement credits for a $95 card. I’m no math genius but that comes out to a $5 profit — before you use any miles for travel.
I’m tempted to get the card just to get $50 back on my Adobe Audition and Photoshop subscription and $50 travel credit.
Capital One Venture Business Offer

It’s a fairly big spending requirement. But remember that this card is tailored toward businesses. Plus, it’s pretty easy to earn the 75,000 bonus miles, at the very minimum. And you have a full six months to earn the 130k.
