Chicago never gets old. There is just so much to do from the Shedd aquarium, to top museums and art, to zoo, golf, and the list just goes on and on and on. You really could take a week and vacation here and see something new each day.
My cousin is visiting with my mom from Sweden for a few months and so we took advantage of a day last week to show off a few sights. Here is how the day began. I tanked up, not normally blog worthy info, but just look at this photo below:
Living where I do, we get lots of flights west to east and vice versa and as the sun was coming up an early vapor trail had been “painted” by the wind with new ones glowing like trails of diamonds in the sky. I know I am an over the top airplane geek, but maybe you are also the kind that will just look up and become lost in the art in the sky like me.
So our first stop was the building below:
If you have never been to the Hancock building, the 95th floor has an amazing view of the lake and the city. Not just a view, but a very nice restaurant call the Signature room. The view is just as good as the food as you can see:
They also have a bar one floor up where you can enjoy even more great views of the city.
Next, it was down to the channel near Navy Pier for the architectural tour of the city. There are several tour operators and you can pick the std tour or the architectural one. We thought we could just walk up and go but the first two tours were sold out so we walked around the corner to Navy Pier for a Ferris wheel ride and some Garretts popcorn.
If you want the most info, and don’t mind paying a few more bucks, the architectural one give you so much more info. The day was perfect and I have, no pun intended, a boatload of photos for you of the city.
What an amazing time and views of this city. The last photo, is the headquarters for United Airlines and is one of my favorites in the city.
Then we once again hit a Restaurant.com home run with a Caliente Mexican Restaurant near our hotel. The food and service was great. If you order a burrito, or really anything, come hungry as it is a TON of nummy food.
After a full day it was off to the Crown Plaza on Priority Club PointBreaks nights. I will share my review of that hotel tomorrow. – Rene

Those drinks at the top bar are pricey. But it comes with a nice view for the price.
@TWF – yes, but if just had or are having lunch they let you walk around and shoot photos. Lunch there, both the weekend buffet and the std menu are pricy but very good! (parking is also high but IMO a safe place to park for the day while you enjoy the city)
I will see you there next month in October.
@Brian – grt see you soon! Rene
