Instagrammer lucky_charmedcourt published this footage (no pun intended, I promise) of a Carnival cruise passenger using one of her hands to itch her feet — while in a ship’s public dining room.
As she scratches away, flakes of skin fall to the floor. Then she uses the same hand to eat a slice of pizza.
But Wait, There’s More!
You thought that toed the line? We aren’t done yet, my friend.
The passenger then takes a fork and goes back to her impromptu pedicure.

You may recall that Minnesota politician Amy Klobuchar was accused of eating a salad with a comb. Perhaps this is a reverse-Klobuchar?
Carnival’s Response
The videos got so much footing that Carnival issued a statement:
Hi Carnival cruisers,
We can confirm that forks are intended for food, not foot care. Once we became aware of the situation, our team quickly addressed it with the guest and removed the utensil from service.
While the video maybe generating laughs and gasps online, cleanliness and hygiene are no joke to us. Our crew works hard everyday to maintain high standards across our feet fleet and to ensure all guests enjoy a safe, clean, and comfortable vacation.

Arch Enemies?
On one hand (I finally resisted a pun!), I get it. When your feet itch and hurt, they itch and hurt.
On the other hand (you have no idea how difficult this is for me), exfoliating at the table, seasoning the carpet, and then rotating the same hand back into pizza service is not kosher.
I wonder if she gave herself a manicure at the comedy show later — and how that turned out?
Final Approach
Credit where it’s due: Carnival’s social team nailed it (sorry) — funny enough to ride the viral moment, clear enough that “please don’t do this” actually got said. That’s harder than it looks when the subject matter is feet.
As for the rest of us: cruise ships fight an around-the-clock war on germs, and the sneeze guards can only do so much. Wash your hands, keep your shoes on in the dining room, and if your feet stage a mutiny mid-dinner, excuse yourself. The pizza will still be there when you get back. (It’s a cruise. There is always more pizza.)
So put yourself at the next table while this unfolds in real time.

Ew…just…EW!
My wife and I just got back from our first ever cruise last week and while we didn’t see this level of nasty, there were some rather questionable actions taken by guests at the buffet, like grabbing food with their hands instead of tongs, tasting cupcake frosting with their finger then leaving the cupcake (staff immediately removed it when they saw it and addressed it with that guest), and one person reaching between two people in line for an item because they were too impatient to wait and/or too much of an (jerk) to say, “excuse me”.
