Free Drinks on Southwest
Certain passengers 21 years of age and older are entitled to one free alcoholic beverage each flight over 250 miles:
- A-List Preferred (“ALP”)
- Up to two free drinks
- Choice Exta Fare
- Extra Legroom customers
- Customers using Southwest drink coupons
But on four designated days, everyone gets one free glass of hooch on Southwest flights with beverage service.

- March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day)
- June 18 (Southwest’s birthday)
- October 31 (Halloween)
Speaking from experience: I often received free drinks on flights late in the day. Smiling and being polite helped, too.
