Hot on the heels of yesterday’s San Diego to Dubai mileage-status run, we have a new find for people who need Delta Air Lines MQD!
San Francisco to New Delhi Status Run — October 2026
This is what I call a SkyTeam Sampler Trip — a single itinerary that touches three or more SkyTeam member carriers. In this case: Delta Air Lines, KLM, and Air France. All five segments carry KLM flight numbers, but you’re flying Delta metal on the outbound domestic and transatlantic legs, KLM on the Amsterdam-to-Delhi leg, and Air France all the way home.
The sample dates depart on October 5 (with arrival in Delhi on October 7) and return on October 12, landing back in San Francisco the same day. A few other date combinations are available as well. Here’s a Google Flights link to get the search started. These deals move — sometimes quickly.
The Numbers
This is a KLM “A” class fare ticketed entirely under KLM flight numbers — KL6828 (SFO-MSP), KL6067 (MSP-AMS), KL0871 (AMS-DEL), KL2369 (DEL-CDG), and KL2430 (CDG-SFO). When you book through KLM and credit the trip to your Delta SkyMiles account, the “A” fare should earn MQD based on 25% of the distance flown.
The total route distance across all five segments is approximately 19,386 miles. Run that through the math:
- Estimated MQD earned: ~$4,847
- Estimated redeemable SkyMiles: ~24,233 (before any applicable Medallion status bonus)
- Estimated lifetime Million Miler miles: ~19,386
- Total ticket price: $2,406.49
- MQD return ratio: approximately 2X
That’s close to $5,000 MQD for about $2,400. As a benchmark: Platinum Medallion requires $15,000 MQD. One trip like this doesn’t get you there, but it’s a meaningful chunk — and the fare class makes the math work in a way that most economy fares simply don’t.
⚠️ Read This Before You Book
This matters because mileage earn on partner tickets is determined by the marketing carrier, not the operating carrier. Since the entire ticket is KLM-marketed, earning should follow the KLM “A” fare chart throughout — including the Delta-operated and Air France-operated legs.
That said, Delta’s earn rules are complex and can change. Verify your expected earn before booking. If you’re at all uncertain, see the “Get Expert Help” section below. Also: read the booking rules carefully. A misrouted credit kills the whole point of the trip.
Booking Rules: Read These First
- Book through KLM, not Delta. Do not book this through Delta.com. Do not book it through Air France. Do not book it through the Flying Blue program. Book it directly through KLM.
- Credit to Delta SkyMiles. Enter your Delta SkyMiles number — not your Flying Blue number — when booking. Confirm it appears on your booking confirmation and on your boarding passes.
- Do not involve Air France-KLM Flying Blue in any way. Flying Blue is the loyalty program for Air France and KLM. Crediting to Flying Blue instead of Delta SkyMiles means you earn Flying Blue miles, not Delta MQD. Those are worth very different things for Medallion status purposes.
- Keep everything. Save your booking confirmation, boarding passes, and ticket receipts. Partner miles and MQD can take 6–8 weeks to post. If they don’t, you’ll need documentation to request missing credit.

One note: the SFO-MSP segment is Economy cabin. Everything else — the transatlantic, the leg to Delhi, and both Air France return segments — is Premium Comfort.

Crediting rules that require you to book through the right channel, with the right loyalty number, and then follow up if miles don’t post on time. A note on portal bookings: the higher earning rates through Chase Travel℠, amextravel.com, and Capital One Travel come with a trade-off. Booking through a portal can complicate changes and cancellations — you’ll often work through the portal rather than the airline directly. For a complex itinerary like this one, booking directly with KLM (as required anyway for proper SkyMiles crediting) means your portal earning rates are off the table. Final Approach
The math here is solid: approximately $4,847 MQD on a $2,406 investment, almost entirely in Premium Comfort, on a SkyTeam Sampler route that touches Delta, KLM, and Air France in a single ticket. That’s close to 2X MQD return — which, in the current mileage run environment, is about as good as it gets without hunting for months.

208,000 SkyMiles for rountrip business class nonstop ATL-ICN-ATL. 14,304 LT miles, and yes ONLY 2,080 MQD on a shiny new NONSTOP A350-900. Anything less than business is intolerable. A few of these per year and LT Diamond will arrive in a few years! Even easier, go shopping with your reserve card!
