If you want to attend the Chicago Points Travel Festival 2026 this October but haven’t made plans yet, I have some bad news—and some potentially good news.
First, the bad news.
The event formerly known as the Chicago Seminars Heritage Edition is already sold out.
Yes. You read that correctly.
In the past—no matter what the darn thing was called, who organized it, or who claimed theirs was the “real Chicago Seminars”—tickets didn’t seem to go on sale until May. Sometimes June. Sometimes even later.
That changed this year.
As we noted just a week after last year’s event, tickets for 2026 went on sale in late October. (We even shared a promo code to save you a few bucks!) They sold out fast.
Now for the decent-ish news.
You can still add your name to the ticket waitlist. Festival organizer Stefan Krasowski tells me you’ll receive an email if a spot opens up — and you’ll have seven days to respond. (Seven days is very generous. In the event that the window shortens — and I think it should — you should be ready to respond ASAP so others have a chance.)
Head to this page and click “Get Tickets.” A pop-up will inform you that the event is sold out, at which point you can join the waitlist.
Rooms at the host hotel, the Holiday Inn Chicago Oakbrook, are still available for $139 plus tax per night, and that rate includes breakfast.
A lot can change between now and October, so it certainly can’t hurt to add your name to the waitlist.
You can book airfare now for the October 16–18 event and cancel later if needed, provided you purchase a refundable ticket or are comfortable accepting airline credit if you end up canceling. For what it’s worth, Chicago Midway (MDW) sits a bit closer to the hotel than Chicago O’Hare.
Neither René nor I plan to speak or attend this year. That said, maybe my workload and schedule will magically cooperate and I’ll pop in at the last minute. (The entire Frequent Miler crew is confirmed, and honestly, that alone nearly justifies the price of admission.)
And if you already have tickets—congratulations. You officially have a great weekend to look forward to later this year!
