Don’t you hate it when major holidays land in the middle of a week? Like, Tuesday and Wednesday holidays are the worst. Like, “Hey, have a fun day off tomorrow, Wednesday, July 4! See you back here at the office bright and early on July 5 for two more days of work!” Gross.
Well, 2026 features a bunch of holidays during weekends! This might make your vacation and travel planning a little easier. (And good to start now before prices get too crazy.)
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Columbus Day are always observed on certain Mondays. Thanksgiving is always the last Thursday in November.
But here are some other holidays (official and otherwise) that fall on weekends this year:
- Saturday, February 14: Valentine’s Day
- President’s Day is two days later, on February 16
- Start getting those Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Edit hotel credits going!
- Friday, June 19: Juneteenth National Independence Day
- Father’s Day is two days later, on June 21
- Friday, July 3: Independence Day observed (for holiday pay and leave purposes for some government employees, and private employers, if they aren’t complete creeps.)
- Saturday, July 4: Independence Day
- Saturday, October 31: Halloween
- Friday, December 25: Christmas Day
- (2027) Friday, January 1: New Year’s Day
Enjoy and plan accordingly!
