The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card‘s lucrative 100,000 bonus points early spend bonus (which can ultimately make you 120,000 points richer) expires in just a few days: Monday, January 5.
The card’s launch promotion ends on March 14. So, if you’ve thought about applying for Venture X, now’s the time to make your decision.
Earn At Least 120,000 Points!
The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card early spend bonus promotion awards new cardholders the opportunity to earn 100,000 bonus points spending $10,000 on purchases within six (6) months of being approved for card membership.
Each purchase earns a base of 2X points. So even if you don’t spend any of that $10,000 in any of the bonus categories, you earn 20,000. Add that to your 100,000 bonus and you’re 120,000 points richer, my friend.
Speaking of bonus category earnings, they are:
- 10X Miles per dollar spent on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel
- 5X Miles on flights and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Travel
- 2X Miles on all other eligible purchases
So, there’s the potential to earn even more.
But, again, this offer expires on January 5
The Card That Pays for Itself
The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Cardcarries a $395 annual fee. But it offers enough statement credits and bonus points to offset that number — and come out slightly ahead.
Cardholders earn up to $300 statement credit for travel purchases made through the Capital One travel site. The benefit is offered each year you hold the card — including year one.
Plus, Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card members are gifted 10,000 points each anniversary year (starting year two). Just because.
Let’s say points are worth a penny each. (And that’s a pretty low estimate.) We can value those 10,000 points at $100. Add that to your $300 statement credit for travel and your card is worth $400.
And that’s before the airport lounge access and Global Entry/TSA Pre√ application credit.

The card gets you access to Capital One’s lounges (including the excellent Capital One Landing at Washington National, above) and a Priority Pass Select membership/
Final Approach
The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card‘s welcome promotion expires on January 5.
I have this card and really like it. If you’re considering getting the card, do it now before this welcome promotion expires!

As someone who files Delta 99% of the time, I have focused my spending on AmEx Delta branded cards. Is Capital One Venture the best choice for a non-AmEx card for Delta flyers? Or would you recommend something else?
It earns 2X on each purchase and you basically come out at least $5 ahead each year if you use the travel credit and redeem the 10,000 bonus points. That said, there are other cards like the Chase Freedom Flex® and Chase Freedom Unlimited® that have good points earnings and don’t carry annual fees.
