Looking to pad your points and miles account with up to 700,000 miles (maybe more)? Boy, oh, boy, does Capital One have an opportunity for you.
New applicants for the Capital One Venture X Business can earn up to 400,000 bonus miles: earn 200,000 bonus miles once you spend $30,000 on eligible purchases within three (3) months of being approved for card membership. Then, earn an additional 200,000 bonus miles once you spend $150,000 on eligible purchases within six (6) months of being approved for card membership. (Learn more here.)
The base earning for each eligible purchase is two (2) miles per dollar spent. So, if you meet the $150,000 minimum spending requirement within six months, that’s 300,000 points. Add that to your 400,000 early spend bonus and you’re 700,000 miles richer.
Before we go any further, let’s address the $150k elephant in the room.
$150,000 Minimum Spending Requirement?! What?!
The Capital One Venture X Business is a business credit card — and those tend to carry higher spending requirements. Why? A lot of businesses spend more money than one person or even a household.
Keep in mind, too, that the $150,000 can be earned within 6 months of approval for the card. Between now and then — and that’s if you apply and are approved today — there are two quarterly business tax cycles. If you purchase holiday gifts for clients and employees, you can put all of that on your card.
Not to mention, you’ll still earn 200,000 bonus points after spending $30,000 within the first three months. That’s still a great bonus, too.
Capital One Venture X Business
Points-earning and features-wise, it’s similar to the personal/consumer Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card. It’s annual fee is $395 — just like the Venture X consumer/personal card.
- Points Earnings:
- 10X miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One’s travel booking site
- 5X on flights booked through Capital One’s travel booking site
- 2X on all other eligible purchases
- $300 Statement Credit on Travel Purchases Booked Through Capital One Business Travel
- 10,000 Bonus Miles Each Anniversary Year
- Up to $120 in statement credit every four years for Global Entry or TSA PreCheck® application fees
- Premier Collection Hotels and Resorts Benefits
Cardmembers have access to Capital One’s growing line of proprietary lounges, as well as access to 1,300+ lounges worldwide from Priority Pass.
And this part is very important: charges must be paid off at the end of each billing cycle. Any outstanding balance is subject to a penalty fee. That’s a percentage of how much is currently on the card. You don’t want to do that.
Granted, we ideally pay our entire balance each month. Otherwise, the fees and interest can negate the travel benefits we enjoy. But life sometimes happens. And that can get expensive. Don’t do that.
I love my Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card and use it for most non-bonused everyday spending (2X on each eligible purchase). Plus, it’s easy to earn back the annual fee — as it would be with this card, too.
Happy earning and traveling!
