Every single cruise I take I learn so much and what I will do again and what I will never ever consider again. One of those things is on the way to the ship. The first one is the choice to fly Premium Economy (i.e. Delta Premium Select) for an overnight flight. These types of seats are very acceptable for daytime flights where you only intend to maybe nap for a bit but for sleeping they are not the way to start a grand cruise vacation.
Another thing I will never ever do again is risk flying in the day the ship departs. In my case it was the only way to make it work and I felt the risk was worth it but the level of stress this created is just not worth it going forward. I will not do this again.
It is sad, for me anyway not for NCL, that so many right now are flush with cash and ready to pay up big time for HAVEN suites either at booking or when it comes to the chance to bid on an upgrade. It will have to be something really special for me not to follow my current course of booking a cheap ocean view room and using NCL card points I accumulate for almost nothing to sail in a balcony cabin. I spend my money other places.
Speaking about other places to spend my cash VIBE Beach Club is one of those places. I love this private space and I would never ever take a long, warm transatlantic cruise ever again unless I can guarantee myself space on VIBE before I board.
I continue to be impressed with NCL main dining food quality and service. On many social sites there are those who are bashing NCL for lowering their quality but this has simply not been my experience. While I have a few small gripes they are hardly worth mentioning.
Lastly the entertainment onboard was again so much fun and made an amazing crossing just that much better and memorable. We really enjoyed ourselves yet again and can not wait for the opportunity to cross the Atlantic one day again. – René

Talk about flying and arriving on the same day when the cruise departs, I agree with you. It is too stressful. However, if arriving on the same day as the ship’s departure is the only way for one’s schedule to fit in the cruise then so be it. One thing to consider especially if the cruise is departing from outside of the USA is the next port of call after the ship departs. EX: if the ship departs from Barcelona and the next port of call is Valencia, missing the ship boarding in BCN is not a big deal because Valencia is just a short train ride or flight between BCN and Valencia. (Same goes true with Rome and Naples.) I have 3 consecutive cruises booked next year, instead of boarding the ship at Civitavecchia, I plan to board the ship in Naples because it much less stressful and cheaper to fly one day late to Naples. Remember, when cruising outside of the USA, cruise lines are not bounded by the stupid Passenger Vessels Act (some people call it the Jone’s Act).
