Eight years ago, this week I flew to Japan, on a mileage run, with a bunch of other Diamonds who like me wanted to keep their status with Delta. Fast forward to 2025 and to my elite status with any airline is all but dead. I can not tell you how many points I am saving being a free agent but will do so over the coming year when I review the amazing flights I have booked for a fraction of what they would have cost in SkyMiles. But before that, the week that was:
Speaking of saving a ridiculous amount of miles – I have booked a ticket on a flying bus with American Airlines. No really it IS a flying bus. Don’t believe me? Check this out.
The US Government is still shut down and it looks like it will not reopen any time soon. But what if you need a new passport or need to have your passport renewed? Can you still do this or do you have to wait? MJ tells us the facts!
Chris digs in (see what I did there) all about Resy dining credits. Just what works? I can tell you the ONE Resy restaurant in South Bend that I really enjoyed going to for the first time last Q just shut down after 40 years of operation. Oh and I purchased a gift card for $100 (that did Resy credit back) but now they are closed. Sigh….
Another Amex perk that has been watered down is the Saks credits. How do you use them? What can you buy and what works? We cover that too.
Lastly this week I have my full pre-cruise checklist I use before I walk out the door. I covered everything import I do and readers came up with some good tips as well. Have “we” missed anything on our long list that you do? Let us know.
I hope you are having an amazing fall weekend like me here in the South Bend area. After an insanely hot summer we are at last having a near perfect stretch of weather and it is much needed with all the projects I have to get done before my next cruise! – René
