Playing $25,000 a hand at blackjack apparently isn’t enough to get you a comped smoothie at Resorts World Las Vegas.
$25,000 a Hand Isn’t Good Enough for a Free Smoothie?!
A video posted to Twitter/X appears to show a couple of Resorts World gamblers playing multiple hands of blackjack — at $25,000 a pop.
One of the players orders two drinks: orange juice and water.
Someone in the player’s group — who isn’t necessarily playing blackjack — asks for a smoothie. The person is asked to share a Resorts World room number and declines. (Perhaps they weren’t staying there and/or not gambling.) The employee tells the person they’ll have to pay for the smoothie.
Mr. Orange Juice and Water rightfully insists that the smoothie be comped. He and someone else are, after all, playing $25,000 a hand. That’s fifty grand each round. During the video, they play several hands of blackjack. Hands are won and lost. But that smoothie — which costs maybe, what, ten cents to make? — is off limits. Unreal.
Other casinos offered their takes and shakes:

Given that we don’t see anyone’s faces, there’s always a chance this video is fake. Based on what friends have told me about their Resorts World experiences, I’m guessing not.
A Vegas high roller brought me along one weekend years ago and told me to charge everything to our rooms. Food, beverage, spa visits, show tickets, whatever. It was all comped. Maybe that’s because I didn’t ask for a smoothie? 🙂
My wife has stood behind me while I play blackjack and cocktail waitresses usually ask her if she wants a drink (which are complimentary). Sure, she doesn’t ask for a smoothie, but she’ll occasionally order a Jack & Coke or champagne — even when I’m playing $25 a hand. These guys were plunking down 1000 times that — and couldn’t get a free smoothie.
We contacted Resorts World for comment.
Las Vegas’ tourism and gaming numbers are dropping — and penny-pinching like this won’t help.
“The drop in visitation to Las Vegas and decline in hotel occupancy show no signs of slowing down over the summer,” writes Buck Wargo of CDC Gaming.
Stay tuned.

I’m a bit dubious about whether this is true. It just seems too out there and there are just so many fake videos out there nowadays.
