I’m genuinely pumped (pun appropriate of the topic) about the bonus promotion Chase announced.
You can earn 5X bonus points on eligible purchases made at/with:
- Gas stations
- Select live entertainment
- Instacart
- EV charging stations
- A special Chase Freedom birthday category to be announced later in Q3
This is the Q3 promotion for Chase Freedom Flex® cardmembers and people who hold the legacy Chase Freedom card (which is no longer open to new applicants). The promotional period runs from July 1 through September 30, 2025. (All information about the Chase Freedom Flex® card was collected independently by Eye of the Flyer. It has not been reviewed by the card issuer.)

Enrollment is required and you can do that here. You have until September 14 to sign up. So, if you don’t yet have a no-annual-fee Chase Freedom Flex®, there’s still plenty of time to become a member and take advantage of the savings. And the welcome promotion is super easy: earn 20,000 bonus points (or $200 cashback) after spending just $500 in eligible purchases within the first three (3) months of being approved for the card. (If you live in or visit California, that’s only a few gas tanks’ worth of fill-ups!)
A maximum of 7,500 points can be earned back during the promotion. (That’s $1,500 in spending.) We love Chase points because you can transfer them to a travel partner, use them to pay for travel through Chase Travel℠, apply them for statement credit, get cashback transferred to your bank account, and a few other options.
Not yet an Instacart member? Our referral link (thank you!) can save you $10 on your new account’s first order.

This Quarter’s Promotion
I love the categories for this summer.
It’s great for people taking road trips or who spend lots of time driving (Or who visit gas stations for ahem creative spending. You know who you are and what I’m talking about. If you don’t, perhaps you should join us for the Chicago Seminars in October.)
I love Instacart and use it quite a bit when I travel around the United States. I’ll order cases of water, fruits, soda, snacks, and other items. If you enjoy alcohol, ordering bottles of booze through Instacart can be much cheaper than running down to the hotel bar.
Instacart also saves me time on some grocery and Costco shopping. That’ll be especially helpful come Fourth of July weekend when I host a few friends and family members.
We don’t yet have a list of eligible merchants for the live entertainment category. But it’s usually something along the lines of Ticketmaster, Live Nation, live theater productions, Major League Baseball and NFL stadiums, etc. The Chase Freedom Flex® promotion can help you save on concert tickets, going to games, and stuff like that. Keep in mind that Q3 extends into college and NFL football season — so the promotion will still be live then.
I’m a big Chase Freedom Flex® fan. I love the 5X quarterly categories feature. If there’s something I don’t like, I don’t use it. The card has a $0 annual fee, so I’m not out any money.
I also like that the card earns 3X on dining and at drugstores.
Final Approach
The Chase Freedom Flex®’s Q3 bonus categories are gas stations, select live entertainment, Instacart, EV charging stations, and a special Chase Freedom birthday category to be announced probably sometime in August.
