Greetings from Los Angeles, where things are a little tense right now. Protests — violent at times, despite what you may hear from certain people — are taking over parts of Downtown Los Angeles and an area named Paramount. (Paramount is nowhere near the Paramount Studios in Hollywood.) The National Guard is here, the Marines may or may not show up. (I’m watching Waymos being set ablaze on live television.)
The Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) office in Los Angeles is planning a protest at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Monday, June 9, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. President Donald Trump’s travel ban is subject of their demonstration.
Join us at LAX on Monday, June 9, to protest the Travel Ban and demand justice for immigrant communities.

The protest was announced last week, so it or shouldn’t take aiport employees or law enforcement by surprise. However, it occurs right in the thick of morning rush hour. Mondays are busy travel days anywhere. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the usual ne’er-do-wells who show up just to be violent, loot, and cause damage (and give actual non-violent protestors a bad name) decide to attend. They’re already in town this weekend’s festivities, so…
If your travel plans start at LAX on Monday, I’d add plenty of extra time to get there. If your itinerary ends at LAX, perhaps plan on some delays getting off of airport property. That’s usually a nightmare anyway. But expect it to take some extra time.
I’m keeping the comments section closed on this post. It’ll turn into a back-and-forth about politics and immigration policies. We don’t need that.
