Today I am back from a short visit down south to visit family. It did not involve flying or a cruise but I did get a lot of things done for my elderly mom-in-law so still a winning trip! Just as busy as me was the blog this past week – take a look:
I returned in person this year to the prestigious frequent flyer and travel awards called the Freddie Awards that for years has recognized the best of the best in travel. These awards are voted on by millions of users worldwide and winning shows your program was appreciated by those who use them. Delta, for all of “modern” history has not won anything. They have been mentioned before but see how bad this year’s results were.
Did you know that cruise lines can bump you off the ship (before you board)? They can and you may not get to sail. Royal Caribbean has a ship set to sail in days and they are way oversold and did something amazing to get people off – they offered them a full refund, a free cruise and cash! Would you have taken any of the deals they offered passengers?
One of the biggest deals in travel worth $1,000 (or more) is ending on May 12th. If you qualify for this one you WANT this deal and need to move fast.
Are you a first time cruiser? If you have never ever been on NCL or Norwegian Cruise Lines then I have a bunch of rookie tips you want to consider. Heck, if you have been on NCL before I bet you have not considered everything I have listed.
I am a big fan of Lyft and would rather take a ride share with Lyft over Uber (or other choices). I also like saving money when I do take a Lyft and there are ways to do so via gift card sales like these.
Rumors are swirling that the Chase Sapphire Reserve®’s annual fee might jump — and the card become more of a “coupon book” in terms of benefits.
There are a blizzard of points this week raining down from Rakuten. I earn thousands of points with them each year and you can too during this week’s 15x sale. Take a look.
In cruise news, Mexico lost it and chose to stick frequent floaters with a $42 per person per port fee. Insane right? Well they have a new plan that stinks almost as much (over time).
I am planning on doing a whole lot of nothing this weekend other than, at long last, sitting on my patio and grilling something nummy. If you are not on vacation I hope your weekend is as relaxing as mine should be! – René
