This is a busy time of year in Los Angeles. The entertainment industry holds numerous award shows honoring film and television programs. (The Academy Awards are this coming Sunday.)
But another award show is just around the corner: The Freddie Awards!
What Are the Freddie Awards?
The Freddie Awards (or “Freddies,” for short) are like the Oscars (without the drama or over-the-top vote lobbying) of travel loyalty programs. It’s named after airline industry titan Sir Freddie Laker. The awards were founded in 1988 by Boarding Area chief Randy Petersen.

“Today, Freddie Award-winning frequent travel programs are the gold standard against which all others are judged, much like Sir Freddie himself,” the show’s site says.
Anyone can vote for the Freddies. So cast your ballot for categories such as Program of the Year (Airline), Best Redemption Ability (Hotel), Best Customer Service (Airlines), and Best Loyalty Credit Card.

When is the Freddie Awards Show?
The Freddie Awards ceremony takes place in late April.
Do Actual People from Actual Travel Programs Attend?
Sure do! I attended the 2023 event. I enjoyed meeting meeting them — and seeing the reactions when the winners heard their names called!
So Where Can I Vote for the Freddies?
Cast your vote now!

Chris, just FYI, the website is saying the 2025 awards ceremony will be May 22 in PA.
Those are the Freddy Awards, which are a completely different thing. 🙂
