Royal Caribbean has invested heavily in its private destination experiences like Perfect Day® at CocoCay®, including higher-end beach club experiences like the adults-only Hideaway Beach Club at CocoCay and upcoming clubs in Nassau and Cozumel. I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the Coco Beach Club while sailing aboard Wonder of the Seas. This was my third visit to Royal Caribbean’s private beach club experience on CocoCay.
Accessing the Club
Coco Beach Club is an extra cost enhancement to your cruise vacation. There are two options for buying access. First, you can purchase a day pass that gives you access to the club and all its amenities except the beach and overwater cabanas. This is how I accessed the club, and the price for my sailing was approximately $165 per person, which I purchased in advance of my cruise via Royal Caribbean’s website. Pricing varies depending on demand and you could pay more or less than I did.
The other option to access the club is to purchase a cabana reservation. There are two cabana options, beach and overwater, with overwater cabanas being the most expensive, pricing around $2,000 for my specific sailing. I’ve seen higher, and a little lower. That is an expensive option, but you will have your own private cabana and have a dedicated attendant. The cabanas are a great option for families or larger groups as you can have up to 8 guests, sharing the costs and making this a worthwhile enhancement to your cruise experience. (Note: I have booked other cabana options on CocoCay, and the extra attention and exclusivity is worth the money for a group of people in my opinion.)
The club is located on the opposite side of the island from the pier, so you will walk past the water park and pool area to get there. Just follow the signs or pick up one of the shuttle options if you need a ride. I chose to walk as I needed the exercise! You’ll eventually find your way there. Coco Beach club is very private, tucked away behind what I’ll describe as a tropical forest.
The Amenities
Your Beach Club experience will include a private beach, more comfortable beach chairs (with towels…no need to schlep pool towels from the ship), frequent and attentive roving bar service, an infinity pool if you prefer that to swimming with fish, and an upgraded lunch. Drinks are the same price as on the ship, and if you have a drink package, it works everywhere on the island including the Coco Beach Club.
The Experience
Once you arrive, you’ll be greeted by friendly staff to check you in answer any questions you have. The first thing you should do is ask about making lunch reservations. They’ll point you to the right place by the clubhouse to do this. Lunch can fill up at peak times, so it’s good to get there early and make your reservation. Then it’s time to find your favorite beach chair and get your vacation on!
It’s generally quiet in the Beach Club. If you’re looking for “island party vibe” best to stop by the large pool area outside the club first. If you tire of staring at the beach, Coco Beach Club features a beautiful infinity pool that I’ve spent time in on every visit.
Dining
One of the best parts of the Coco Beach Club experience is the upgraded dining experience. Surf and turf? Yes please! OK, you don’t have to order surf and turf, but since filet mignon and lobster are both on the menu, why not? You’re on vacation! Take a look at the menu.
Expect to be offered all of the starters and in all of my experiences at Coco Beach Club, servers will offer surf and turf if you order just a steak or just a lobster.
And wait for it……..surf and turf!!
Lunch was delicious, and as always, a highlight of a very relaxing day.
The Bottom Line
Coco Beach Club is a great option if you are looking to upgrade your Prefect Day experience a bit. From the exclusive feel of a private beach, to the increased attention and service, an upgraded lunch, and that beautiful infinity pool, Coco Beach Club makes a perfect day even more perfect.
