One of our favorite cards announced its quarterly bonus cashback categories — and one of the merchants is a big (but welcome!) shocker!
The no-annual-fee Chase Freedom Flex®‘s and legacy Chase Freedom card’s bonus 5% cashback (5X Chase) categories for January through March 2025 are:
- Grocery Stores (excluding Walmart and Target)
- Norwegian Cruise Line
- Fitness Clubs & Gym Memberships
- Hair, Nails & Spa Services
(All information about the Chase Freedom Flex® and Chase Freedom card was collected independently by Eye of the Flyer. The card issuer has not reviewed it. The legacy Chase Freedom card is no longer available to new applicants.)
Manual enrollment/activation is required. You can do that online through your Chase card account or simply plugging in your last name, the last four digits of your card number, and you zip code here at ChaseBonus.com. Enrollment is open through March 15, 2025.
You’ll earn 5% cashback (awarded as 5X Chase Ultimate Rewards®) for eligible purchases made with merchants between January 1 and March 31, 2025. A maximum of $1,500 in combined spending applies.
5X at grocery stores is great — especially for a no-annual-fee card! It will come in handy for those us hosting guests during certain football championship games. 🙂
But the real sleeper here is Norwegian Cruise Lines!
The 5% cashback means you could earn $75 cashback if you spend $1,500 on purchasing or during a Norwegian cruise. (Or earn 7,500 points.)
I’ll have to get a couple of haircuts during Q1, so I can save some money!

Chris, I think you mean Q1 2025 (Jan – March) and not Q4 2024 which has already happened.
Geez Louise, Reed, I think you’re right. Thank you so much for catching that and alerting me! I just updated the post.
Thanks again!
