A man says Delta Air Lines burned his golf clubs during a recent trip. The passenger’s golf bag was allegedly dragged to such an extent that it caught on fire.
He found when he saw the charred remains of some poor sap’s golf bag on a baggage claim belt.
Guess who the poor sap ended up being?
Delta purportedly originally declined his claim — but then stepped up and did the right the right thing.
There have been a few high-profile incidents about golf clubs not enjoying their trips. Just ask a college golf team or an LPGA pro about their experiences. (Though I once flew with a bunch of PGA golfers en route to a tournament or open or whatever they’re called — everyone’s clubs seemed to survive the flight from Atlanta to Sioux Falls. Whew.)
Also, I think I understand how friction works. But how the heck hard do you have to drag a golf bag so that it starts on fire?
Here are a few other headlines that caught our eyes today:
My wife was a bridesmaid in two destination weddings. For the same bride and only a few years apart. Long story. (It’s actually one of the ways we started down the points and miles rabbit hole.) The starter wedding wasn’t cheap, and the follow-up was even grander. So, I definitely feel for this groomsman who’s stuck trying to decide if he can afford to attend his friend’s destination wedding.
A pilot explains why we need to put our phones on airplane mode.
The FAA wants more frequent inspections on some Boeing 757s.
Finally, our friend Matthew at Live and Let’s Fly encountered issues with Chinese security when they spotted his KLM Delft houses.
