Just because many people took a four-day weekend doesn’t mean the crazy people also decided to take a vacation.
Here a few of the more interesting travel-related headlines I came across this week.
First, a woman was caught migrating between lavatories during a recent Delta Air Lines flight from New York-Kennedy (JFK) to Paris (CDG). As Gary Leff at View from the Wing wrote:
She managed to get through security without a boarding pass (so TSA botched things first) and then boarded the aircraft without showing credentials to do so either.
The flight was completely sold out, so no seats were available to her, but she reportedly hid in a lavatory for takeoff but eventually drew suspicion because she would leave “one lavatory and then just going into a different one…staying inside for a long time.”
Here’s what I found especially interesting: this is the fourth known stowaway incident involving Delta Air Lines — since March. The airline is averaging one almost every other month.
In other Delta-related news, someone appearing to be a disgruntled airline employee based at LAX is frustrated about her employer-provided health insurance. So, she took her frustration to City Hall — and gave an earful to the Los Angeles City Council, whose thrice-weekly meetings are nothing short of a profane, darkly entertaining circus. (The clip is cued up to where the employee starts talking. Be warned that there’s some NSFW language on either side of her speech. Los Angeles immigration attorney Wayne Spindler uses his pet goat puppet — yes, really — to address the council just before she speaks.)
Someone who self-upgraded to Comfort+ was loudly shamed after being caught. (I’m 100% OK with this.)

Re: Delta
I guarantee that terrorists are very interested in how those people pulled it off, too.
From my recent personal experiences with Delta, I’ve concluded they have significant issues handling baggage without tearing it up. It would seem they also have issues keeping unauthorized people from boarding their aircraft. Too many more of these issues and they’ll have another issue…no longer being able to get away with calling themselves the best.
But at least they’re premium stowaways, right? 🙂
