Things apparently got a little testy during a charter flight carrying the Auburn University’s men’s basketball team on Friday.
Fox 6’s Jonathan Hardison tweeted:
NEW: Flight that appears to be the Auburn men’s basketball team heading to Houston diverted back to Auburn this afternoon. Air Traffic Control audio we’ve obtained shows a pilot in that airspace telling ATC “we have a bunch of basketball players fighting.” We’ve reached out to Auburn University and Auburn police for confirmation or comment

Meregrass flight 681 department Auburn (AUO) around 2:50 PM, en route to Houston where the Tigers are scheduled to play the University of Houston Cougars on Saturday evening. But the Saab 2000 twin-turboprop turned around once in flight. (H/T) Opening Script

SOURCE: Soon after the Auburn men’s basketball team’s flight took off, a physical altercation took place between Chad Baker-Mazara and the Cardwell brothers (Drake and Dylan). The three players had to be restrained as the flight landed back in Auburn. More to come.

Another report chalks it up to nothing else than some “horseplay.”
Auburn plane returned back home due to horseplay between players on the flight that could have escalated into a fight, source told @TheFieldOf68.
Auburn was about 45 minutes en route and had to return home. Source said they are expected to take another plane to Houston later…

That’s some serious (and expensive) horseplay if it caused the flight to be turned around.
Unless maybe they were playing “H-O-R-S-E” on board the flight…
We haven’t yet seen a rescheduled charter from AUO to Houston.
