Recently I covered how you can check out, well in advance, the likely menu for your upcoming premium cabin Delta Air Lines flight. If you are not an every week flyer and have a trip planned for something special it is fun to look at all the details regarding your upcoming adventure.
Another part of the journey is the entertainment onboard. On Delta you will no longer find the old drop down ceiling monitor with only whatever movie they chose to feature. No now, on a bulk of the jets, you are going to find a high quality touch screen with a lot of choices.
Depending on the jet (and we are talking about Delta mainline jets – not small regional partners) you will not just have a bunch of movies to pick from but even live TV with up to 15 channels. So you may be able to catch that game you were thinking you were going to miss due to your flight.
More into music while you work on your laptop? No problem they have a bunch of Spotify choices to select from. The point is you can look ahead, before your flight, and see what entertainment you may be able to enjoy.
When I say “may” it is because there are bunch of things that may make your digital entertainment plans go sideways. While overhead screens are gone from Delta, you may still run into some really really really old style screens (about the size of your cell phone) that are not much fun to watch and have minimum selections compared to the updated screens.
The other issues that can impact your enjoyment is either an equipment swap, that is, the jet type you were supposed to be on is not what you end up flying because Delta needed it somewhere else or maintenance and so on and the jet you do fly is not as up to date. Or, like when it comes to the satellite TV, it may not be working or you may cross outside of US air space and the signal gets cut off (this happened to me during The Masters golf tournament – so I watched it on Masters.org over wifi on my phone).
For me my vacation begins well before my trip. I love planning ahead for all the tiny details so I can get the most out of every trip and that means even checking to see ahead of time what I am going to enjoy digitally along the way on Delta Air Lines! – René

Was on a few flights the last 2 weeks and saw only a few new movies. So many oldies. Not much new stuff to see. Wish DL could get more of a selection of US movies!
