One of my favorite places to stay before a cruise out of Barcelona is up in the business district. It is quiet and a quick tube ride (right around the corner from the hotel) to get anywhere around town.

As a Hilton Diamond, I was extended a free upgrade to a corner suite (you can see my standard king room and hotel review from 2022 here). It is always fun to see double doors and just what kind of suite awaits you when you get a “free” upgrade.
Behind those doors we found a compact corner suite. First, let’s look at the bedroom.
As mentioned, for a suite, this is not that much bigger than a standard king room you might find anywhere in this hotel. Yet there were some nice perks.
We had a part-ocean, part-city view. Then again, unless you are stuck in a city-only view room, most of the rooms will have some view of the water.
One thing I do really love is when a suite upgrade includes the little touches. On the desk was a small tin of chocolates. Slippers were in the closet with the safe and robes on the back of the bathroom door – nice, Hilton!
While there were tags that water bottles would result in an upcharge, we had access to the Diamond lounge and added some Orange Fantas to the mini-fridge. Side note – why can we not get the fantastic flavored Orange Fanta here in the USA like in Europe? On to the big bathroom with one tiny issue.
We did not use the huge garden tub, but for those who like a long hot soak, this is the suite for you. Everything else worked fine, but the deco faucet would splash if you did not keep it on the lowest setting.
Now the one tiny issue I mentioned and I do want to emphasize TINY! This shower has to be the smallest shower I have ever been in in my life.
Not only did the handle leak water, but with the doors closed, you have just 17 inches to move around. Now, I know I am not the tiniest person in the world but it took real acrobatics to get clean in this ultra mini shower – it was not fun!
The free Diamond breakfast was just as good as my last visit and a big perk of loyalty when visiting Hilton hotels outside the USA (I really hate the current domestic dollar credit as an elite).
Lastly, I was able to go to the bar and pay with my Hilton Honors American Express Business Card for the quarterly $60 credit and even the city tax that was billed to the same card also credited back, resulting in a free stay for me as I used 50,000 points per night to pay for our stay.
Overall, we had yet another pleasant stay at this hotel, and other than the ultra-tiny shower, I was pleased with the free Diamond upgrade. Also the staff at this hotel really does everything they can to make sure you feel welcomed and appreciated and in 2024, to me anyway, this does matter. – René
