We found what we call a “SkyTeam Sampler” premium economy mileage run from Orlando (MCO) to Dubai, UAE, (DXB) that should earn you almost twice your airfare’s worth in Delta Air Lines Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQD). I also like that it might help some of our hub-captive friends in Atlanta.
Plus, unlike some of our other runs, it doesn’t require you to book on a foreign website and leave out of a foreign country. (But no pain, no gain!)
Book the trip as a KLM-marketed itinerary and put down your Delta SkyMiles number as your preferred frequent flyer account. You will not involve Delta’s website, app, or customer service when booking this trip.
There are several dates available during November and December.
The trip we found leaves Orlando on a Thursday, November 7, at 5:45 PM. (Plenty of time to commute there that day.) You fly a Delta hop in Comfort+ to Detroit (DTW). Then, you fly an Air France A350 in Premium Comfort to Paris (CDG). You have a little less than three hours to make your 1:35 PM flight to Dubai. This Premium Comfort ride is aboard a Boeing 777.
You’ll probably want to sleep Friday night and maybe a little Saturday. There’s not much time to check out Dubai — because you’re back to the airport for a flight that night. It departs at 1:55 AM for Amsterdam (AMS). It’s a KLM Boeing 777 in Premium Economy. You have just under six hours in AMS before your Delta flight to Orlando. That’s in Premium Select on a Delta A330-900. You’re back at MCO at 5:00 PM. By the time you clear customs and immigration, you might have time to fly home if you’re not from Orlando.
According to the SkyMiles Calculator at Travel-Dealz, the trip should earn:
- $3,978 MQD for US $2,063.50 airfare
- 15,908 flown miles toward Delta Million Miler status
- 23,864 redeemable SkyMiles before any applicable Medallion bonuses

Check out SAS premium economy for future cheap MQD runs, lots of ~$800 premium economy fares out there to Europe that you can easily get over 2x MQD return. Even if they’re not a core partner you get 20% of distance flown on PE at those cheap prices.
Thanks, Kory. I saw a few of those today. I went through most of the booking process but couldn’t get a confirmed fare code to display. That’s the only reason I didn’t blog them.
