Cruise ships have some unique sets of challenges. After all, you are literally packing tons of people into a confined space with nowhere to go when at sea. This means everyone should try to be on their best behavior at all times and be courteous to other guests.
This did not happen recently on a Greek cruise ship. One set of guests was apparently playing something loud on their portable speaker when another guest became annoyed with them and did this:
This is just so wrong for so many reasons. First, you never ever toss anything off a cruise ship — especially not something like an item with batteries and other bits that would be toxic to sea life.
Next, it is not your job as a guest to take this kind of action. The ship has personnel you can ask to help out if you are bothered by another guest.
While I empathize that the guest may be frustrated with someone using a portable speaker or even someone on a cell phone doing a FaceTime chat loudly with, say, the grandkids – there is a simple solution I often use when traveling. I just walk over to them and place on the table a set of ear buds airlines give away for free. That usually gets the message across. Then I walk away.

Easy to see the frustration it took to do this. Doubtful this took care of the behavior though. Entitled people will continue to think their needs/wants matter more than others. Both were wrong but I can understand why someone threw their speaker overboard
Obviously the person was bothered by either the volume or nature of the music being played, but there is absolutely no excuse for destroying someone else’s property, breaking a cruise cardinal rule by throwing something overboard, and perhaps the worst not being able to control your temper and just move to a different spot, perhaps ask them to turn it down a little, or asking for help from security. This is the behavior of someone not in control of their actions, and this type of person should never be on a cruise. If the cruise line is/was able to identify this person, it’s a sure bet they’ll be banned for life on that cruise line.
