One of Capital One’s rewards cards now features its best-ever (and a very lucrative) early spend bonus offer.
Capital One Spark Cash Plus: $2000 Cashback
The Capital One Spark Cash Plus offers new cardholders $2,000 bonus cashback after they spend $30,000 in eligible purchases within three (3) months of being approved for the card. (Learn here how to apply for this offer.)
The Spark Cash Plus earns unlimited 2% cash back on every purchase. Plus, hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel earn unlimited 5% cash back. So, you’ll earn at least $600 cashback through organic spending if you reach the $30,000 threshold.
Earn Additional $2,000 Bonuses
This is a nice boost for those with fairly deep pockets (it is a small business credit card).
You can earn an additional $2,000 cash bonus for every $500,000 you spend during the first year of card membership. Assuming you do that, that’s another $10,000 in organic spending plus your $2,000 bonus.
Earn Back the Annual Fee
The card carries a $150 annual fee. But you’ll earn a $150 refund if you spend $150,000 on your card each year.
Are There Other Business Cards With Decent Welcome Offers That Don’t Require As Much Spending?
There are, indeed, a few other business cards with good welcome offers that come to mind. In fact, I can immediately think of four.
Now, they don’t earn a $2,000 bonus like the Spark Cash Plus. But they also don’t require you to spend $30,000 within three months, either. Some also have some fun travel features, too. Here are a few worth considering
The Business Platinum Card® from American Express: 150,000 Bonus Points
The The Business Platinum Card® from American Express offers new applicants 150,000 bonus American Express® Membership Rewards® points after you spend $20,000 on eligible purchases on the card within the first three (3) months of being approved for card membership. Terms apply. (Terms apply to American Express benefits and offers. Enrollment may be required for select American Express benefits and offers. Visit americanexpress.com to learn more.)

Cashback is not the Amex Business Platinum Card‘s strongsuit. Points convert to cash at a 60% rate (i.e., 1 point = $.60). But you can transfer points to a host of airline and hotel partners. You can also earn 35% of them back each time you use the Pay With Points feature when applying points toward eligible airfare purchases through Amex Travel.
The Platinum Business Amex also features a ton of benefits such as:
- Complimentary access to airport lounges
- American Express Centurion Lounges when traveling with a confirmed seat on a same-day flight
- Delta Sky Clubs when traveling on a same-day Delta-operated or -marketed flight.
- Escape Lounge by Centurion Suites (with up to two guests) when traveling on a same-day flight
- Priority Pass Select membership (enrollment required)
- $200 Airline Fee Credit: Select one qualifying airline and then receive up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year when incidental fees are charged by the airline to your card. (Enrollment is required.) Read this post for more information.
- $199 CLEAR® Plus Credit: Receive up to $199 in statement credits each calendar year for CLEAR Plus membership costs charged to your card. (Enrollment required. Taxes and fees not eligible. Terms apply)
- Up to $120 Global Entry Credit: Receive either up to a $120 statement credit every four (4) years for a Global Entry application fee or a statement credit up to $85 every 4.5 years for a TSA PreCheck® (through a TSA official enrollment provider) application fee. Global Entry comes with TSA PreCheck and is the better value, in our opinion. So many travel credit cards offer this benefit — keep in mind you can “gift” it to someone else.
- Fine Hotels + Resorts: Enjoy early check-in and room upgrades (when available), daily breakfast for two (valued at up to $60 total each day), a resort or spa credit (varies by property), and guaranteed late check-out.
- $120 Wireless Telephone Service Credit: Earn up to $10 back in statement credits each month on eligible purchases made directly with a U.S. wireless (cell phone) service provider.
- Complimentary Gold Elite Status with Marriott Bonvoy
- Complimentary Gold Elite Status with Hilton Honors
The card’s annual fee is $695 but check out this post about to earn back all of it — and then some. (See Rates & Fees.)
