- Final Thoughts on my “Free” 14 Day Carnival Cruise from Wydham Status Match Offer.
This seemed like such a good idea when booking – gosh I wished we had looked over “Rapha Transport” reviews on Trip Advisor. But let me back up a bit and explain.
This cruise was meant to be a really cheap one as it was a “free” offer from our Caesars Diamond status that we then spent a little money on to upgrade to the amazing aft wrap around balcony we enjoyed.
So when it came time for transport we had $50 leftover Expedia cash that was about to expire and they offered us transport from the Port Canaveral cruise port to Orlando’s MCO airport for just a little more than that. Plus, we had tons of time with a late day departure so no matter what happened we would make it with time to spare.
We had booked an 11AM pickup so we could have a slow relaxed last day on the ship and not have to wait in lines, that is, do what we normally do and try to be the last off the ship. That did not happen. As we were finishing our breakfast we got a call from Rapha Transport saying they wanted to take us early – like NOW – and we should get off the ship and they would wait.
Ugg.
We rushed our last bites of breakfast and, as you may have guessed, ended up stuck in long lines that took forever. We texted the driver and again he said they would be waiting. And…
Once again you guessed it – they left without us. So we had to now stand outside for over an hour and wait for them to return from the previous run to MCO.
When our very young driver arrived he informed us we would have to stop for gas on the way and we were free to get refreshments inside the gas station if we wanted. OK then. After that he cranked up religious music and we were at last off to the airport. Here is where it got scary!
This driver was in a hurry – and I mean HURRY – to get back to MCO. He weaved in and out of traffic and as you can see was much of the time exceeding the speed limit by over 20 miles per hour. It was flat out scary!
We did make it to the airport, thankfully, in one piece but it was one scary ride. I did reach out to Expedia about their partner but they were ZERO help and this is one of many reasons I am happy to be done with Expedia bookings. – René

Was the music at least for an interesting religion like voodoo or Scientology? A lively zombie song or two might have lightened the atmosphere.
Jokes aside, thanks for the warning.
@Christian – As fast as he was going and crazy driving I think Phantom of the Opera sound track would have been more appropriate?
Appreciate the info – unprofessional agents for a company can happen. Problem is when that company doesn’t step up to be the solution. Good to know about your experience.
