During this very (did I mention very) busy travel week this serves as a good reminder to make sure one of the most important things we can pack is our patience either in the air on the road or even on the water.

Reddit user “CuriosTiger” reports that yesterday June 30th flight DL1602 departed several hours late (and confirmed by FlightView) due to having to return to the gate. They said in part in the post:
“The reason originally given, “issues with the aircraft”, turned out to be a ruse. The person seated in front of me was escorted off the airplane by police.” And later commented, “He [the removed passenger] was arguing with an FA [flight attendant] earlier, but I didn’t pay much attention. I didn’t see anything violent, though.” – Reddit user CuriosTiger
Also as a reminder that you will NEVER win by not complying with the direction from a flight attendant. You simply must follow their orders. If you do not like something they said or did or ordered you to do simply wait till you get on the ground to address it. If not, like what happened in Detroit a number of years ago, you may find yourself dragged off a jet by the police!

I did not reach out to Delta about this incident as they tend to refer the media to the police department regarding incidents like this and it is way too soon to get any comment from the flight crew (they just landed a few hours ago in Alaska). My guess is over the coming days we will learn much more about just what happened.

The only “incident” like that I’ve ever experienced was when my flight from Hong Kong to Bangkok was delayed because two passengers didn’t show and their luggage had to be removed from a 747 (this was 1995). Then, the passenger and wife (Asian but not Chinese) showed up while they are still looking for luggage but….he was drunk, saying he didn’t hear being paged for his flight while in the bar. Gate agent said he couldn’t board but his wife could. He became belligerent and was arrested by HK police. It took another 30-45 minutes before their luggage was removed. We departed at least 90 minutes late!
The most aggravating delay was on a flight from Madrid to Granada on Iberia. Flight was delayed for about an hour…. for the pilots. Then, we were told pilots almost there so they lined us up in the jetway for immediate boarding. But it was another 45 minutes or so before the pilots showed up! Arrived in Granada after the last scheduled airport bus departure to the city but they sent a special bus just for us. Second, and last, Iberia for me…..!
