DON’T FORGET: Some of the Dozens of Travel Card Statement Credit Benefits Expiring at the End of This Month!

A person with curly red hair is standing on a beach at sunset. They are wearing a green sweater and have an expression of surprise. In one hand, they are holding a fan of hundred-dollar bills, and in the other hand, they are holding a credit card. Palm trees and lounge chairs are visible in the background.

The more I chat with people, the more I realize they’re unaware of all the (expiring!) statement credit opportunities available to them. We’re somehow at the beginning of June(!) and a bunch of semi-annual credits are about to expire. Or maybe you missed some from May and don’t want the same thing to happen this month.

Remember: all of these credits are available on an if-used basis and don’t roll over to the next month, quarter, or year. Plus, some require manual activation or enrollment.

So, before you forget to use yours (I almost forgot to use my Saks benefit!), take a quick look and see if you can squeeze out some value during the next few weeks.

This isn’t an exhaustive list — but it’s still pretty detailed. Let’s take a look at what’s out there!

(Terms apply to American Express benefits and offers. Enrollment may be required for select American Express benefits and offers. Visit americanexpress.com to learn more.)

Help make that dream beach vacation happen! The Platinum Card® from American Express earns Membership Rewards points.
The Platinum Card® from American Express

The Platinum Card® from American Express

The Platinum Card® from American Express is loaded with statement credit offers.

The $50 Saks Fifth Avenue feature is the biggie to be aware of this month. Card members can earn up to $100 statement credits each year for purchases made in-store at Saks Fifth Avenue or online at saks.com. Available as $50 from January through June, then $50 in statement credits from July through December. (Enrollment through your Amex account is required.) Not sure what the heck you’d buy at Saks? Here are some ideas. Remember to start your shopping sesh through a cashback portal such as Rakuten or TopCashback and earn some extra money!

Keep in mind the card also offers these statement credits:

  • $200 Hotel Credit: Earn up to $200 in annual statement credit for prepaid bookings at Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection properties. (The Hotel Collection properties require a minimum two-night stay. Eligible charges vary by property.) Reservations must be booked through American Express Travel®. So if you haven’t yet booked a stay, do it now. Here’s how I used my credit to enjoy a significantly discounted stay at Bellagio Las Vegas. Once you book your eligible stay, make sure it posts to your account — and isn’t accidentally clawed back. And remember that you can’t change FHR reservations without some kind of penalty.
  • $200 Airline Fee Credit: Earn up to $200 in statement credits each calendar year on incidental fees spent with one participating airline selected through Amex.
  • $200 Uber Cash: Amex Platinum Card members can receive up to $200 each calendar year in monthly Uber Cash deposits valid for Uber rides or Uber Eats purchases in the United States. The deposits are dispensed as $15 each month from January through November and $35 in December. An Amex Card must be selected as the payment method for your Uber or Uber Eats transaction to redeem the Amex Uber Cash benefit. (Enrollment is required. Uber Cash deposits are made monthly and expire if not used. To receive this benefit, you must have downloaded the latest version of the Uber App and your eligible Amex Card must be a method of payment in your Uber account. The Amex Benefit may only be used in the United States.)
  • $199 CLEAR Credit: Earn up to $199 in annual statement credit for a CLEAR membership. (Enrollment required.)
  • $20 Monthly Digital Entertainment Credit: Earn up to $20 in statement credits each month (up to $240 annually) for eligible purchases on Disney+, a Disney+ Bundle, ESPN+, Hulu, The New York Times, Peacock, and The Wall Street Journal. (Enrollment required.) The purchases must be made through the respective providers’ websites — and not their apps or other services.
  • $300 Equinox Credit: Earn up to $300 in statement credits each year when you choose between an Equinox+ subscription with live and on-demand classes or an Equinox club membership and pay with your card.
  • $12.95 Walmart+ Subscription: Charge a Walmart+ subscription to your Platinum Card and receive the monthly fee plus applicable taxes for one membership credited back to your account. Worth up to $155 annually. Subject to auto-renewal.

The Platinum Card® from American Express‘ annual fee is $695. (Rates and Fees.) But we’ve shown how it’s easy to actually come out ahead.

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express

Pay attention to the The Business Platinum Card® from American Express.

First, now is the time to get the card if it’s not already in your wallet and you’ve always thought about adding it. There are a couple of reasons for that. Number one is a welcome offer that expires on June 30:  Earn 150,000 bonus American Express® Membership Rewards® points after you spend $20,000 on eligible purchases on the card within the first three (3) months of being approved for card membership. Plus, earn a $500 statement credit after you spend $2,500 on qualifying flights booked directly with airlines or through American Express Travel with your Business Platinum Card within the first 3 months of Card Membership. You can earn one or both of these offers! (Terms apply.) –> You can learn here how to apply for this offer.<–

Next, are two statement credit opportunities that change drastically on July 1.

Card members can earn up to $200 in statement credits on eligible purchases made with Dell Technologies through June 30, 2025. However, that changes to up to $150 for the calendar year starting July 1. (You can also get additional $1,000 statement credit after you spend $5,000 or more on that same Card per calendar year). That means you can take advantage of the $200 now through June 30. Then you’ll have up to another $150 from July through December. (And then up to $150 for all of 2026, etc.) Again, launch your shopping sesh Rakuten to earn some extra cashback or Amex points.

Next, Amex Business Platinum holders can earn up to $150 in statement credits for eligible annual prepaid business plan purchases with Adobe on Creative Cloud for teams or Acrobat Pro DC with e-sign for teams through June 30, 2025. Starting July 1, it becomes up to $250 in statement credit for eligible Adobe purchases of at least $600 total through December 31, 2025, and each calendar year thereafter.

Amex Business Platinum Card members can now earn up to $50 in statement credit each quarter for eligible purchases made at Hilton properties. Even if you’re not staying at Hilton, you might be able to take advantage of the credit. (H/T Robert for the reminder!)

Here are the rest of the card’s statement credit opportunities.

  • Cardholders can also earn up to $200 back in statement credits each calendar year on incidental fees spent with one participating airline selected through Amex. (Enrollment required.)
  • $10 Monthly Wireless Service Credit: Cardmembers can earn up to $10 per month in statement credit ($120 annually) for purchases made directly from any eligible US wireless telephone provider. (Enrollment required.)
  • $199 CLEAR Credit: Earn up to $199 in annual statement credit for a CLEAR membership. (Enrollment required.)
  • $150 Adobe Credit: Cardholders can earn up to $150 in statement credit each year on purchases of annual prepaid subscriptions for Creative Cloud All Apps or Single Apps for Teams or Acrobat Pro DC with E-Sign or advanced E-Sign for Teams. (Enrollment required.) Monthly subscriptions are excluded.

The Business Platinum Card® from American Express‘ annual fee is $695. (Rates and Fees.)

The Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card overhauled some of its benefits. Here are some of the annual credits expiring at the end of this month. Terms apply to each.

  • $400 Hilton Resort Credit: Earn back up to $200 in statement credits semi-annually (up to $400 back per year) on eligible purchases made directly with participating Hilton Resorts. Even if you’re not staying at Hilton, you might be able to take advantage of the credit.

The Chase Freedom Flex® card earns Ultimate Rewards points -- which can help make a dream beach vacation come true!

5X at Amazon, Select Streaming Services, and Cable, Phone, and Internet providers.

I suggest people hold the Chase Freedom Flex® for a couple of reasons (actually many more than that): first, there’s no annual fee. Secondly, there are quarterly 5% bonus categories. (Awarded as 5X Chase points that can be redeemed as cashback, statement credit, applied towards travel purchases made through Chase, gift cards, etc.) Card members earn 5%/5X on up to $1500 in eligible purchases each quarter. (Manual activation is required no later than June 14.)

  • This quarter, the bonus cashback categories are purchases made with Amazon(!), select streaming services, and cable, phone, and internet providers.

The promotion also applies to the legacy Chase Freedom, which is no longer available for applications.

(All information about the Chase Freedom Flex® was collected independently by Eye of the Flyer and was not reviewed by its issuing bank.)

(Enrollment is required. Terms apply. Uber Cash deposits are made monthly and expire if not used. To receive this benefit, you must have downloaded the latest version of the Uber App. Effective 11/8/2024, an Amex Card must be selected as the payment method for your Uber or Uber Eats transaction to redeem the Amex Uber Cash benefit. The Amex Benefit may only be used in the United States.)
  • $100 The Hotel Collection Credit: Earn an experience credit with a minimum two-night stay when you book The Hotel Collection through American Express Travel®. (Terms apply. Eligible charges vary by property.)

Great list and YE reminder Chris!

Just one clarification – the Hilton Honors Surpass Card’s $50 quarterly statement credits are good “for purchases made directly with a property in the Hilton portfolio on your Hilton Honors American Express Card.” This isn’t just limited to “resorts” like the Aspire Card’s bi-annual credit. I’ve earned credits this year at Curio Collection and two different Hampton Inn & Suites, none of which are resorts.
