a door with a door and a sign

This was a unique sailing for the Carnival Glory that is, as of this post, based out of Port Canaveral. We boarded in Barcelona Spain after the ship had just completed a number of weeks of drydock and refurbishments.

a door with a poster on it

We were offered a free balcony cabin but spent about $600 each to upgrade and were really looking forward to cabin 7445 because it seemed to offer ample space and a HUGE wraparound balcony. You enter though a tiny chute from the hallway.

a room with a bed and luggage on it

Then the entire room is in front of you. We choose to have the beds pushed together into one large one but you can split them into two singles should you wish.

luggage on a bed in a room with windows

While the room is spacious it is not quite as large as I had expected or hoped. You will have to walk one at a time to move around the bed and more.

a room with a bed and luggage

a room with a bed and a closet

Closet space was ample but additional drawer space would have been nice as there really were only two useable under the hair dryer (a single bank behind our luggage).

a small refrigerator with a suitcase in the corner of a room

You do have a mini-fridge and unlike so many cruises it is not filled with over priced mini bar things no one should ever pay for so A+ for that Carnival.

a white box on a shelf

As you would expect you do have a mini-safe but this one is unlike any other one I have seen. You use your room key to lock and unlock the safe and only the key that you lock it with can unlock it. Neat idea!

a white cord plugged into a wall outlet

Here is another negative for this cabin (and my guess the rest of the cabins) you only have one US outlet and one standard European outlet. You should plan to bring a splitter with you to charge all your e-stuff! Now the bathroom:

a door with a pink trim

Let me cover something that is a good idea but turned out to be a very bad one. On bottom of my night stand there is a motion sensor with a strip of LED lights. When you get up to use the bathroom at night they come on to help you see your way into the bathroom. This seems like a great idea but they are VERY bright and stay on just long enough to go off and come back on when you again exit the bathroom. Nice for the moving about but not for the one sleeping.

a bathroom with a light fixture and a mirror

There is a tiny shaver outlet in the bathroom that would be perfect for a soft LED motion sensor nightlight I travel with but unfortunately this outlet goes off when you turn off the lights! Sigh…

a bathroom with a sink and towels

a bathroom with a toilet and towels

Here is another negative about this cabin. This bathroom is one of the smallest I have ever seen on a cruise ship. You will hit your legs using the toilet and the shower is so small and the curtain always hits you – think airline lavatory and you get the idea – that small.

a door with a window and a curtain

Now for the real star of this cabin, that is, the HUGE aft wraparound balcony.

chairs on a deck overlooking the ocean

a deck with chairs and a railing overlooking a body of water

I have been in suites that have larger ones but never one that wrapped around the ship. This really is a unique feature.

a deck with chairs and a boat in the water

a deck with a chair on a boat

This gives you the chance to sit in the sun if you want or shade if you want depending on your mood. The only disappointment here is the chairs were not replaced during the refurbishment and they were old and very tired (and very dirty).

a large red and white object on a ship

Anther negative about this balcony is that soot from the exhaust, maybe due to the iconic tail design vs straight up funnels, spit out bits of black on you almost every day. Also every day I had to wipe down the chairs and rails from this soot. Not good Carnival.

a boat on the water

a body of water with a boat in the distance

a wake of a boat in the ocean

We did get great views passing the straights of Gibraltar as well as many days of sea views crossing the Atlantic (nice since I caught a cold and spent days out here getting better).

a window with a view of the ocean

a bed with towels made out of animals

One thing they did do in drydock is replace the windows on the ship and we had perfect views from everywhere. The deep windows made a perfect spot for our daily towel animals from our very kind and attentive room steward.

Another complaint is there was a small table in the cabin but no chairs. They only thing you could sit on was a small stool that nested up under the desk area. For dining in the room we had to bring in chairs from the balcony and they were a bit oversized for that purpose.

a sunset over a body of water

Overall this is a nice cabin with a huge balcony and some irritations we worked around (including bringing our own wall / hook magnets). The bed was very hard but we always bring our own 3″ foam topper so that was not an issue for us but you may want to do the same if you are taking a longer cruise on the Glory. – René
