If you’re a Frequent Floater and have ever considered sailing Celebrity I encourage you to join Celebrity’s Captain’s Club before you book your first cruise. Here’s why I joined and why you should too.
Joining is simple, it costs nothing, and only takes a few minutes per person. If you frequently travel with the same person, like a spouse, partner, child, etc. it makes sense to make sure they’re registered as well. You can join here.
Once you’ve joined you want to make sure that you go into your new Captain’s Club accounts and make sure to click the ✉︎ SUBSCRIBE button on the top right to sign up to receive emails from Celebrity Cruises and participate in Power Up Points.
What are Power Up Points you might ask? Celebrity Cruises describes them as:
“an exclusive new way for Captain’s Club members to earn points even when you’re not sailing. We’ll email you different activities – including social media contests and questions that help us get to know you better – and you’ll earn Power Up Points just for participating. Each activity will be worth a set number of Power Up Points. Those points will convert to Club Points and automatically be added to your Captain’s Club Point bank. For every 10 Power Up Points earned, you’ll get 1 Club Point. The more you participate, the more you’ll earn.”
After I joined and subscribed my first opportunity to earn Power Up Points came through about a month later. Celebrity posted a “Q&A with President Laura Hodges Bethge” and offered 30 Power Up Points to register and watch the interview discussing what’s new at Celebrity.
These 30 Power Up Points convert at 10:1 to Captains Club points, meaning this would earn 3 Captains Club Points. You’re probably asking, what’s the big deal about 3 Captain’s Club Points? The answer is that this gets you into Celebrity Cruises first “real” loyalty tier – Classic with 2-149 Club Points. Here are the benefits of Classic Club Tier:
For our upcoming Galapagos cruise on Celebrity Flora, a lot of these benefits won’t apply; however, being eligible to book a Captain’s Club offer on a future cruise on board could potentially entice us to book a future cruise. For those on non-expedition ships you can expect to be able to take advantage of far more of the benefits.
It took a little over two weeks for the points to post, so exercise a bit of patience.
Combined with the Captain’s Club Points we will earn on our upcoming cruise we will return at the Select Club level which we can then match to Royal Caribbean’s Crown & Anchor Society Platinum Level in addition to enjoying a few additional benefits and discounts onboard future Celebrity Cruises.
