I never really did a full review of my NCL JOY cruise from last year but after my beyond disappointing MSC cruise with meals that were so gross I wanted to review a memory that was simply amazing.
On the JOY, as well as a number of other ships, NCL offers seaside ocean front dining at restaurants like the steak specialty called Cagney’s as well as Le Bistro the French specialty.
There are few times at sea you can, on such a large class of ship, have this kind of view as you set yourself down for an enjoyable meal.
We both started with one of our favorites on the menu that is not the snails in garlic sauce but the same dish with bay scallops – it is oh so good and great for bread dipping after the scallops are gone.
Next up we chose the mushroom soup. A #ProTop you can ask for extra mushrooms in the bottom of the bowl before the mushroom medley soup is poured on top – if you love mushrooms – you will love this 1st course.
For my entrée I chose the beef tenderloin. It is always perfect but as of last year they are now charging a $10 surcharge that was once included “free” when you paid for the specialty visit or got it some other way (like an elite perk or package offer). Still it was worth it.
Deserts, like everything other bite we enjoyed, were perfect. What a remarkable way to spend a perfect evening at sea.
Norwegian may not be the “cheapest” cruise line at sea but with encounters like this it is well worth it and one of the best meals you may ever experience in your life! – Rene

I’m sorry but it is very off putting that you continually put MSC comments in every newsletter you’ve written since you’ve cruised with them. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy yourself but please get on with pointing out the rest of your travel adventures. By now we all know your opinions on MSC. Thank you from those of us that actually like MSC. It makes you look extremely small minded & petty to keep saying the same things over & over & over & over! Thank you!
@Dora – OH there is plenty more to share about how bad MSC was! Keep in mind we almost got off the ship and flew home. The worst is yet to come with MSC!
